Even if you jump into water, share to say they won’t sit there and wait for you to come up?

You swim underneath the surface and come up in a different spot for air. They will hang around for a while

I read or saw somewhere that smoke puts them to sleep. Do that and then hit it with a stick. Please record the whole process...for science.

I had two like that in my yard the past two years, both were German Yellowjacket nests.

We found one after my little guy went to get a football from a bush. Poor kid got stung three times, my FIL once, so I went all out.

I waited until dark because they can't see at night, dressed in a Tyvek suit with a beekeeper hat, leather gloves, and sprayed a cans worth of wasp killer into the nest.

Nothing for a few days, then a few stragglers came back. Not sure if they had a slumber party elsewhere that night or what?

Dressed up like an astronaut again under the cover of darkness and emptied another can. Problem solved.

Following year I found one while weedwhacking, we stayed away from it and like someone else mentioned, they abandoned it after winter.

    Good luck!! Haha

This. Just know they are there and don't piss them off. We found some azealia caterpillars on Saturday and while my wife was picking them off a few hornets showed up and started dive bombing them. Pretty cool to see. Bam, suck the guts out and get another one.

I’m impartial. I understand @nowayout position but I’m not very sensitive to killing those bastards either.
But, I would hire a pro with out question. Spend the money and don’t chance it.

Same here, at about 5 years old the neighborhood kids talked me into smacking a nest with a baseball bat. Lets say that didn't go well for any of us. I got stung around 5 times from that and the other kids got it too. Lesson learned.

I had a bald faced hornets nest in my attic a couple of years ago. I saw one of them squeeze thru the hardware cloth covered vent under my eaves, went up in the attic and as soon as I saw it I GTFO of there. I didn't want to fall thru the damn ceiling if I started getting attacked. I did some research and found out what a couple of other people have already mentioned, they will abandon the nest in the winter and the queen will move on.
I went back up in the middle of winter in my beekeeping jacket and got the nest down. Sure enough, it was empty.

I just realized he didn’t post again after I suggested this. I assume the hornets were victorious. RIP @BuckWallace you went out like a man.

You could go out there at night and saturate the nest with a couple cans of Raid. Maybe do that a couple nights in a row.
