On the 1st Gen there are two horns. One is for high pitch and the other is for low pitch. Together they sound fairly loud. I have considered the steel cover removal and might do so after hearing the ‘improved’ loudness even though its pretty loud already.

Went out and took the covers off the horns with zero discernible increase in decibels.

Unplugged each horn to hear how each one sounded and they each have their own little car sound, but together they sound decent.

They don't sound that much different than stock IMO. At least from the sound clips on YouTube. I like the red super tones but kinda wanted more oomph. I don't want to get mixed up in a compressor. Might do this one https://www.amazon.com/SUPER-MARCO-...CDHK5R00SXF&psc=1&refRID=4P2TBD6KSCDHK5R00SXF

Have you heard the Sharp Tones? They're different than the Super Tones.

I upgraded my 91 Land Cruiser's horns from the stock ones, which were loud but very high-pitched and hilariously wimpy. I got a set of Hella horns with Toyota connectors so they were plug and play, and they pretty much sound just like stock Tundra horns. Deeper tone and much better than the originals imo. I don't think the Tundra horn is wimpy enough to upgrade, and I came from a Range Rover, which was inaudible and the tone wasn't too high but also not low enough. It was horrible.

New horns installed. Piaa super bass horns. Definitely a better tone.

Pretty simple install. You’ll need to use the 1/4 inch crimp plug wires that are included for the ground tabs(bottom).

Don’t cut the factory plugs off like my dumb ass did. They will fit on the positive tab(top) of the horns.

That's way too much work. If you want to give someone a little warning, just tap your horn quickly once or twice. No need to over engineer it, although I do admire his channel

I forgot to note that I also did PIAA super bass horns on my Land Cruiser. I woild recommend these. The plug and play hellas failed, so I upgraded to the PIAAs. Very deep, loud tone that gets people's attention.
