The compromise that I didn't like on my off road is the cheesy chrome nose. I really wish it was a color matched front bumper and grille. Today's chrome reminds me of the silver tin-tape we use on HVAC. Chrome covered plastic and beer can thin bumpers are a joke. Why color match the rear and chrome the front?

That's the reason why I got the Sport instead of the OffRoad. I hate chrome, and the Sport came with everything color matched. (and a scoop).
They color match the rear when you have the BSM and RCTA. The sensor is in the rear bumper, and don't work in a steel bumper, so when you have those options, they have to give you the plastic color matched bumpers. I agree though that when they do that, they have to match the front bumper with color also.

Also since these bumpers are made of beer can thick metal, and seem to be prone to rust, wouldn't it just be better to make them plastic? We all know that metal aint metal anymore. If I ever hit anything I will be going plate bumpers with rhino lining. I would also have a color matched grille off a sport put on it. Hopefully I never need to do this lol! The plastic bed in the taco had me nervous, but it was really a genius move on their part.

There are pros and cons to a plate bumper and a modular sheet metal bumper like Toyota implemented.

My previous Tundra had fatty Brute Force Fab front and rear plate bumpers, badass bumpers. Served their purpose until some scumbag ran a redlight and I plowed into her Escape doing 50. My BFF bumper smashed the front so badly the truck was totalled. The left wing of the bumper actually went through my Nitto tire and pierced the SCS wheel. It was gnarly! Luckily I walked away with only a badly sore neck. With my Tundra's puny stock resin bumper, the truck would've probably looked 10x worse.

Now with a modular sheet metal bumper, obviously it wouldn't survive a similar crash, but it would be super cheap to repair a smaller fender bender, which is much more likely to happen with distracted drivers these days. And that's what Toyota intended. Inexpensive simple replacement parts.

Personally, I love the scoop on scoop look. I am looking to get a scoop. It would be a lot more cost effective for me to just swap hoods with another white tundra. I am up for trades!!!

I think the hood looks much better stock than messing with it, or the bulge. Anything you do besides replacing it with a non scoop hood I think is gonna draw attention to the change.

I am a fan of the double scoop. Once I saw the TRD sport, I had to have it. I know a lot of people don’t like them but I’m into it!

Hood scoops that don't go anywhere. Is there anything sorrier than a big hood scoop that feeds air to nothing? You peer in there and see a blank wall of metal or plastic. Dead-end ducts, whether for intake or exhaust, always leave a poor impression.

I like my hood scoop but, my truck is black and I don’t think it’s nearly as prominent on black as some of the other colors. Seems like I saw a ram air type conversion somewhere for one of the scoops. Might have dreamed that though.

Thought I saw someone in another post looking for a white scoop. I have black and just am not a fan of them. I initially thought of putting a black light in it to give maybe a sinister glow look from under the hood, but instead decided to just go with a new hood. Having it put on now, can’t wait to get her back!

I wish the scoops were actually functional. Some ducting into the air filter area for the upper one, and possible ducting into the back of the radiator for the lower one. I have thought about doing that just to be somewhat functional, but it will take quite a bit of work. I saw on another post an after market option to place a ducted hood in place of the OEM hood. I like that but I don't want to fork out the extra cash for something that may have a marginal improvement of engine compartment cooling.

I'll leave them the way they are to hold with the OEM configuration.

Shocked people have this much animosity toward the 2nd scoop. I like it. Of course, the OPs filled in first scoop looks really clean. I want to add the 2nd scoop but now I"m thinking I should fill in the first after it.

That's fair. I was speaking from a purely aesthetic view but you're right: if they're going to double scoop, at least make one of them functional.
