Hood Bulge Problem

Toyota has updated them. The 2020 has the newer clips.

 

Thanks for all the help, guys! My wife’s flew off in Houston traffic the other day, and she’s very unhappy. I’ll try new clips, but the two taps that bolt on snapped off...so I’ll have to figure something out for them. Until then, she’s riding bareback.

has anyone compared the Amazon beefy clips to the new style Toyota clips?

 

My 14 does the same thing, I thought it was just broken since I bought mine used.

Order the newer style clips.

 

You need the new style clips.

 

i bought some new ones from toyota turns out the drivers bolt part bork off so i made small holes
on the bulge part and zip tied them to the hood and so far so good now

 

Those bolt areas need some JB Weld for reinforcement.

 

I used these:
GOOACC 40pcs Toyota Trim Door Panel Retainer Clips 90467-10188 Sienna Corolla Camry Tacoma Tundra Sequoia Matrix Prius RAV4 Scion Avalon Land Cruiser 9mm Hole

They have held up for a month now, with no sign of loosening. they are more robust and wider than old OEM part.

I needed maybe 4 pieces, and the minimum order was like 30 pieces, so i have some to give away if you pay shipping from Hamilton Ontario Canada.

 

This happened to me as well on my 2017 -1794 as well, I had to fiberglass the brackets to keep them intact but they are holding up quite well.

 

Genious repair solution @TXRailRoadBandit73 ! Thanks for sharing the pics too. My clips were broken off while driving through a high wind area. I’m going to make the repair now. You’ve saved me a lot of money on replacement and I like to fix rather than replace when I can.

 

I have this same issue. I can't figure out what causes it.

 

You most likely have the original clips before Toyota changed them.
