Two of my most recent projects. Wife and I just built the house last year. The living room was too plain for my liking, so I decided to add a propane fireplace

before: (don't mind the makeshift tv stand. It was literally the day we moved in lol)

    After:

Next I gutted the bathroom. Yes, the 18 month old brand new bathroom. The tiles were cold and white grout joints on the floor is a terrible idea, no matter how clean you are. Decided to put radiant heat in the floor and some custom baseboards.

And the big, EXPENSIVE project this past spring was a huge patio and my super fucking awesome grill haha

    Before:
    image.jpg

We installed low voltage LED lighting that's connected to a photocell that comes on at dark and off at dusk

    image.jpg

just about complete. Before the countertops were installed on each side of the grill. That grill is almost 4' wide you just can't tell because of the size of the patio haha

Thanks a lot Jim. Produce any where from 25-35 gallons of syrup per year depending on the weather and how ambitious we get with how many trees we tap.

I made up some brackets to hold a 75 gallon stainless tank that houses maple say to gravity feed my evaporator. The tank will unfortunately be outside the cooking area but just didn't have enough space inside the room. Tank weight probably 150 lbs itself. These will hold the tank when it's empty (10 months a year), and I'll add some temporary deadman studs to the floor for when it's full or 500+ lbs of sap. Morticed and screwed, the joints, lag screwed through to 6x6 framing behind the rough cut siding. Need to finish the siding and then place the evaporator in the room. I got some barn door rollers to make a sliding door to close the area in fully.

Sugar house is in Bolton. Not too far from Simsbury. My sister lives there and takes me about a 40 minutes.

My finger locked up scrolling through the pics, hahaha. Seriously though that's some pretty good drywall repair for just watching YouTube. I framed and hung drywall before I got serious about what I wanted to do. Repair or hanging is the easy part. Sanding and finishing is the PIA part. Nice work, looks good

After moving into our new place back in October with endless days/weeks of organizing I finally got my garage set up the way I like it a few weeks ago. Still some areas of improvement but I can say I can park both vehicles in the garage at night and some wood projects on the weekends.

This weekend's project was a small but usefull shelf. It really helps having the right tools always at the ready.

Storage for more tools and supplies. Oh and don't forget the ration of 80 gallons of water in the corner.

This isn't completely completed yet, but pretty close. After 10 long months of permit delays and apartment living we closed on our new build house on Jan 30th. We're still far from settled, but there are a few items that take priority. Because we opted not to have a granite backsplash in the kitchen it was imperative that I install the tile immediately to prevent and leaks or damage to the walls.

My wife had her heart set on a classic black and white look, so after much deliberation and sampling we went with a very basic white ceramic subway tile with charcoal colored grout. This is my first time installing tile for such an application and I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out. Still need to complete the window sill and touch up paint in a couple places where I went crazy with the grout.

This is before, after sealing the countertops:

Excuse the mess, I was hungry and my hands were stained black. I couldn't be bothered to clean up after myself. I will be completing the window sill and small touch up items after work today.

Took a deep breath and cut an 18 inch hole in the roof day, got the flashing on and the smoke stack through the roof today and a few loose ends finished up. 1-2 feet of snow coming tomorrow so I'm glad to have the outside stuff done finally. I have a couple hours work to do on Friday or Saturday inside. Plan is to tap 100 trees on Sunday.

Again, congrats of the quality of work. I made the mistake of letting my wife make the decisions on everything inside the house. She put in black hardwood floors. I hate them! Good thing I love my wife. Don't make the same mistake!

We have dark brown hardwood floors Michael. You see every bit of tried water on it that might have followed you in outside or on the dogs paws. Its brutal to keep clean.

I'll make a thread for this during the week. But wanted to put this here. Sugar house is just about done. Today i Got the heat shield around pipe. I got the fire brick mortared
inside the evaporator and the pans on and level, got plumbing hooked up for the gravity feed tank. Hoping to do a test boil tomorrow with water to check for leaks. Then next weekend we should have a few hundred gallons of sap to cook.
