Well, in about an hour we find out what State Farm is going to say about our vehicles.

If you decide not to fix it, get a real estimate from a repair facility to make sure State Farm isn't short changing you. We had an experience with State Farm 3 years ago with hail on our Prius. They wrote us a check for $1800, but the repairs came to $3500 and they had to go out and re-adjust the car at the body shop. To this day I'm not sure who was dishonest, State Farm, or the body shop.

Your damage was much worse than mine. As a comparison, mine came out to ~$4,500 and you probably wouldn't know it had hail damage without looking closely. It was mostly PDR work, but they had to paint the hood. I'll hopefully pick it up from the shop today at lunch.

So your original estimate was $2600, but it came to about $4500. That sounds a lot like my experience. How did yours change? Did the insurance company adjust it and then the PDR shop said that's too low? Who was your insurance company?

I mixed up my van and Tundra in the OP (the van was $2,600). The original quote for the Tundra was ~$3,800 (going by memory). After the hood paint, it rose to $4,500. I'll edit my other post.

Not official, the 4Runner is totalled. The inspector looked at it, not the adjuster.

New roof going on today. Price of the roof is exactly what the roof guys quoted me and what State farm paid out minus my deductible. Siding being replaced tomorrow and the guy doing it is a friend that has been doing siding for 20 plus years. His bid hasn't changed and State farm paid me out that exact amount. Only stuff left is a few window screens, new mailbox and they are giving me $300 to stain my fence. Smooth sailing so far.

Would be cool, but he needs a ride too! High school, work and rifle team. Besides we need another trail vehicle.

Meh, it's done and over. Kind of at least! Just dealing with the admin shit. It hasn't been too bad.

The boys Tacoma was $12,300 in damages. $1700 of that is for a new topper. Damaged to gel coat.
    2 repairs and 1 totalled.

Not as bad as I was thinking. The good thing is Pat, you will be keeping the truck. Probably 6 weeks of work?

Nope I was thinking 10-15k for my truck. Same on the boys Tacoma. The adjuster was surprised about the Tacoma. Must hold their value, is what he said.

Hopefully you'll be taken care of.

State Farm and the the contractors doing my roof and siding have been outstanding so far. I didn't have to deal with the negotiating on cost shit. That was between them and State Farm.

Good luck to you with everything!

I used to do residential fire and water restoration. After working for all the major insurance companies I can honestly say State Farm is my personal insurance company. They always paid what the real cost was, and they always paid us on time. We never had to fight them like we did with the other guys.

Insurance is one of those things where we feel like we're getting ripped off if we never have to use it, and our premiums just keep going up and up. I'm still with State Farm. Though the rates keep going up and up, they remain cheaper for me than the competition. Other than that one experience, I've never had to ask State Farm to pay a claim for me, so my view of the claims process is a bit skewed. :). They are consistently rated high, and in the end they paid the claim for what it cost. It just made me a little uneasy that it seemed they were trying to get off cheaper if I didn't get the car fixed. My brother in law is an independent claims adjuster, and he concurs with you that State Farm pays out the best on claims.

The Tundra has a date for the body shop. July 17th, and 2 weeks later the Tacoma will go in. About six weeks for both of them. The longest part will be for the roof replacement on both, because of the work and airbags. They said it's just slower work because of that.
Thanks @mcroyo for the reference. We are using Williams Paint and Body.

No problem! Hope they do as good a job as they did to my neighbors ram, his truck looked good as new after they repaired it.

Inspect every inch of it when you pick it up, my roof was replaced also. One of the many issues i had after DMI told me it was ready 3 times and each time i found problems

Thanks man! It's more of an inconvenience than anything. Good news, we should have our trucks back by the end of August or early September. Hopefully!

Adjuster came today, new roof, garage doors, fence, shed roof, gutters, house repainted, patio furniture, grill, screens, windows and some other things I can't remember. That dude saw shit me and the wife did not see.
Work should start pretty soon on that stuff.
