I got 17.1 mpg when I brought my truck home the day I bought it. I have never gotten that mileage again? I get 13.5 to 15.3 mpg pretty much all the time . I changed the exhaust to duals and deleted two converters and installed a k& n pan filter. My truck has the leveling kit and 305/55/20 nitto ridge grapplers tires so I really can't complain.

    I can consistently produce a 18.5 to 19.5 mpg in my 08 limited 5.7 4 wheel drive.
that is flat strait seal level Florida at 69 MPH.
Using Michelin LT tires, street tread at 40 psi. No abnormal wear for 50,000 miles, just replaced with the same.
Handel's like a sports car, tows like a truck.
Towing the big boat: 8 MPG sucks
towing the wave runner, sames as not towing

My truck had the 305/55/20 on it when I brought it home? Must have gotten a really good deal and they kept the gas mileage? Lol!

Your fuel injection system monitors the fuel burned by the o2 sensors. Removing 2 converters would likely change the exhaust flow and temperature. the higher flow and lower temperature in the exhaust would be read by the computer as a cooler engine and cooler ambient temperature. In order to keep the engine running correctly, the fuel is enriched to compensate for a cooler engine. If within tolerance that the check engine light does not activate, the end result would likely be higher fuel consumption and a longer warm-up period at a much higher fuel ratio than required. You may get a little more power if you are within 14 to 1 mixture however if you are too rich, you are likely to burn out or plug the front cats.

I have only had them removed for 2 months. I have owned the truck for 1 year. I have actually gotten better gas mileage since I removed the 2 converters and installed an x-pipe and dual dirty Deeds exhaust.

Well I believe I'm going to jump into 1st place with this victory. This was our last road trip to SWF in the 08' 5.7 CM now keep in mind I did have the flux-capacitor switched on and running at 96.7% efficiency. Only other mod is the rev-tec tornado throttle body spacer. Numbers don't lie..LOL

Is coasting downhill and photographing the dashboard allowed in Tennessee ?
Yesterday’s crazy warm temperatures here seemed to influence my truck’s gas mileage, putting it back at 17.2 mpg. And when the cold front pushed through and I drove home, mpg was back to 15.4.
Makes ya wonder what factors really influence mpg

Interesting. My experience is raising pressure to 40-41 psi raised mileage from 15 to 18/19 mpg summertime, and from 14 to 15.5-16 mpg wintertime with heavy knobbies

I'll try 40 40 psi then. I do have a 6in lift so that could affect it too

If I get 13.5 I'm happy! Generally I'm hovering around the 12 mark, with 60% of my driving in town and the rest highway.

Best I've gotten was in 2015 heading East to Oklahoma from San Diego and got about 23-25mpg with a considerable tailwind.. I remember mostly because I did it by hand and I texted my buddy over it, lol.. I think it was mainly through New Mexico..

The biggest factor is your foot by far. How you drive has just about everything to do with it. Also I feel like once you start going faster then 70mph its gonna start dropping. Summer/winter, tires, lifts while be a factor but the biggest one will always be your foot I feel like, especially when there's guys getting like 12....obviously unless you have some serious modifications, hug lift/tires, alot of stop and go.

I find it best to try to get up to your cruising speed as quick as possible, when reasonable like when you have a good distance before you will have to stop... without really gunning it/making it drop a gear.
And remember to use the engine as much as possible to slow you down. Alot of people will accelerate up to say 30 or 40 to just put on the brakes a sec later to stop.

Yes I could see heavy traffic stop and go thats possible. I guess I'm not use to leaving in city's like that. Although I do experience some stop and go its not much. Also people leaving there trucks idle is awful on gas milage. Look up engineering explains video on idling....it took 7 seconds to burn the same amount of fuel idling as it does to shut off and start the engine. So in theory if you have to set for more then 7 seconds its worth killing the engine.....although impractical and not good kn the starting its still something to keep in mind.
