F150 with 35s, upgraded diffs and a ten speed auto. Not too exciting. Would like to drive one for a day just to see how the ten speed auto behaves, I can imagine it downshifting from 10th to 4th hitting a grade nearby.

Edit: f250 or f350 with diffs, 35s and 10 speed auto. Picture was a 150 model, not clear if all 3 are available.

The new Ford Tremor is based on the F250 package and it is supposed to be offered with the new 7.3 gas engine or the diesel engine. I do not think you will be able to get the 6.2 with it. Check out the TFL episode online. In theory possibly a great truck, just never know these days with the blue oval.

Most wont read the article. They'll just see ford and start bashing because “team Toyota!” Ford sells the most trucks by a mile because they make really good commercials and not trucks apparently.

Don’t tell the church of Toyota people here but my next truck will be a raptor unless Toyota comes out with a game changer in the next few years.

This is good for Toyota owners. Competition breeds innovation. When Toyota realizes they're losing sales because they lack a 250/2500 diesel model truck, maybe they will get off their collective asses and make one. You know, the diesel truck that half the forum members here having been begging for for years.

Anyways, a stock truck on 35's.... gonna get a few sales on that alone.

I will do me. I dont have to read an entire article on a Ford truck to know that it had no business comparing itself to Toyota in the overlanding community. Reading that article would be a waste of my time. "You dont step in the ring with Ali because you think you can box" is what comes to mind. This is their first real attempt... I'd be hard pressed to believe that it's on the level it needs to be on to compare.. and in matter how many bells and whistles they put on it... they are not proven reliability... sorry man I'm just not impressed and for hasnt shown me personally anything to earn my respect.. not that my respect means anything though lol. Just a personal matter.

Ford sells so many vehicles because they have such high impact on fleet vehicles. They build their trucks to make it to warranty and trade in deadlines... companies will lease fleet vehicles for a year or so and boom, they will send them back and grab 20 more new ones.. good way to get your sales up for sure. But it's kinda like shooting fish in a barrel.

Cool concept. They one upped Ram Power Wagon with the diesel option, until one figures out diesels suck off-road.

I would just do the Power Wagon, if I had to have a large overland 3/4 ton truck.

I see you have 6 maybe 7 posts? You hear because you have a Tundra or because you want to defend Ford? Serious question.

Is it just me, or are modern trucks (especially 250/350) tall enough without even more lift? I think that I like most aspects of the concept except for the added lift. The gas option is the only variant that would interest me.

I read the article, I am for SURE a Toyota guy, but I'll call it what it is.

Ford has had a brilliant marketing team and taken a few risks that Toyota (and others) never would, and they got rewarded by it. The Raptor is a perfect example of them seeing a market and capturing sales. I never thought people would buy a truck with a mid travel (I don't call that long travel) kit and some body styling for the price range they're asking, but look what happened.

They're doing it again based on the success the SVT Team saw with the Raptor but they came with a different formula. Now they're doing something for the guys who need a heavy duty truck but still want to go off road, bravo. They're going to build what would cost the average off road enthusiast an extra $5-6k and they'll charge an extra $20k because it comes with warranty. Great move, can't hate.

Still, its Ford. I'll joke all day about Fords but to be honest the one I owned for 4 years was pretty reliable. It was an uncomfortable and gutless gas hog that had this terribly cheap feel to it. I'll never get a Ford again because they all remind me of the old work vans I used to drive, Econoline 350s and such. I don't think they make particularly bad trucks, just not trucks that I like. I'm curious how much of their sales are for commercial fleets vs personal trucks.

The problem with the Power Wagon is that it is a 3/4 ton truck with the payload of a 1/2 ton. They put a more flexible suspension on it, and I am guessing that is the main reason the payload is so degraded. I mean the winch, lockers, and skids and such add weight also, but not that much. I think that the power wagon payload rating is like 1500 lbs. The regular 4x4 2500 crew with the gas engine is like 3000lbs.

One of my big pet peeves is people that flirt with or flat out ignore payload ratings. I see many "overland" builds that use a 1/2 ton trucks.....probably because they ride better. Then they throw so much bs on to their trucks that they are over GVWR anytime they get in the truck.

I like the idea of the article. My next project is going to be building an offroad/camping rig that I can also use for some work. Will it be a 1/2 ton? Not a chance. Might be a bit of a stiff ride, but I am not a go fast guy anyway.

Smoke and mirrors to overshadow their poor build quality. I used to own a Super Duty and I get weekly notices regarding class action lawsuits on a variety of issues. Ford now sucks as much if not more than GM

Pfft! I got a free 8yr 125k platinum warranty on my 18 Tundra cause it should be better. Ford never had to do that. To each his own I guess.:notsure:

I agree I know its not a Toyota but the Power Wagon could end up being a future buy for me. I have always wanted one and yeah the Ford Tremor has a diesel and what not but I don't really need a diesel for towing 5-7k. The Sway bar disconnects would help on both my inlaws and my parents properties as well for the stuff that needs to get done there that I help with my truck when needed but a powerwagon would allow me to go several hundred more feet up the terrain. I would be a happy camper if I could have my 18 Tundra and a Future Power Wagon some day sitting next to each other.
EDIT: I would have to widen my driveway though or see if my inlaws won't mind having one stay over their place until driveway is widened. :D

U guys are being drama queens. Out of the American big three Ford is best. I never had a fucking problem with any of my Fords. Got 250k out of each before trading for next one. Don’t get me wrong I love my Tundra but my ford drove better and got better fuel. Not to mention hauled and pulled more even with same set up. I’m actually going back to Ford after I get another 50 k miles out of this Tundra (at 150k now) and more than likely going diesel.
