What would cause my oil pressure gauge to spike? Engine has plenty of oil. First Gen 06

Oil filter should have a relief valve in it so even if clogged pressure should not increase. Faulty sensor or gauge is the most likely.

I’m thinking faulty sensor just not sure. With the ignition off it’s past high. Started out of the blue.

That sounds like an electrical problem in the dash wiring system. A missing ground wire on any of the gauges will cause them to peg out like that. Same thing happened to my coolant gauge once when I had a loose connection in the dash harness.
