Wow that's 80k miles in the last 2 years... Impressive... Talk about what work has been done on it as you approached 300k... Bearings? Valve cover gaskets? Transmission work?

This comforts me greatly. MY 2010 has 124,500 and I really don't want to get rid of it for a long time.

Oddly enough, nothing major. No transmission work at all and I tow vehicles A LOT! No valve cover gaskets, never had one drop of oil leak out. It burns maybe a quart every 2K miles, I change oil regularly with full synthetic, I replaced the water pump once or twice, just did the brakes again recently and that's really it. Its crazy how this truck has been so good.

I've got 245,000 on our 2007 DC with 5.7, us old guys, 76 years, remember the old days when reaching 100,000 miles was a really big deal. After looking at the service record and seeing how great the 07' runs, those mile figures don't bother me, the previous owner is in his 70's and had put over 200,000 miles on the truck himself. Funny thing is, the salesman thought that I was that guy, he said I looked like him, the guy had traded in the 07' for a lease on a new Tundra. What really amazed me is how powerful the 5.7 engine is in a rather heavy Tundra, when my wife and I took it for a test drive I wasn't even trying and I burned a bit of rubber taking off from a traffic light and that's with 265X18 Coopers, this truck is the hot rod I've been looking for, fulfilled a bucket list desire that I wasn't sure would come about.

Right there with you. Mine just ticked over 120k and I've been nervous. My previous vehicles were an Expedition, Cherokee, Grand Am, Montego, Mark VIII, Galant, and Civic. Everything but the Civic had all kinds of problems north of 100k.

Article published today in MSN Autos:

Exerpt: "Where the Tundra makes a strong case for itself is in value. Consider this: You can't get a 2020 Tundra for more than about $55,000, but a fully loaded Ram 1500 Limited will touch $70,000 if you aren't careful. Of course, the Ram is better at everything, so you could consider it money well spent.
At the end of the day, I can see making the case for a Tundra if you need a no-frills work truck with a strong V8 engine. But as a daily driver, the segment's best players from Chevy, Ford, GMC and Ram will continue to lead the pack."
    --------

None of those mentioned are leading the pack. I don't think any Chevy, Ford, GMG or even RAM can't say the same thing. I have n3ever seen any of those newer trucks say that they have 360,000 miles on them an still driving them. My 2007, I gave to my son, and he has 267,000 miles on the truck and still drives as new, and no major work done on it, only the AC Compressor went out at 240,000 - other than than, just regular maintenance.

I remember seeing their review of the RAM and they were gushing on and on about it. Hell, I even work with a guy who traded in his Tundra for a new RAM. I know its going to hit the Tundra but for now, they can have all that fancy tech. Just more crap to go wrong.

I actually believe the opposite. If they owned one they would know how crappy it is.

There is a thread in the 1st gen section about units with the highest mileage. A few have checked in with over 500K miles and very little maintenance done. I don't know as much about the 5.7L but it doesn't appear to be a challenge for the 4.7L to go the distance. We even had some people state they they had high mileage units that had been very neglected over the years.

I think the Ram is the new 57 Chevy

It is just the in truck to buy for some reason.

There is a reason marketing people get paid well.

The "IS THAT A HEMI?" commercial made them a fortune but yielded bad results.
Although they didn't lose a lot of sales they lost enough to where they needed a new marketing team.
They have been climbing ever since.

John Deere had a great marketing campaign as well but fell short.
In 2013 they peaked "Nothing runs like a deere" but got hurt because everything ran better than a deere.
They lost sales the next few years. The farmers were disappointed in them like most were or are with Craftsman tools.

Had a 2001 Toyota Sequoia (4.7L). No major issues other than Radiator replacement, which was my fault, I was young and naive. Lasted me 350k until I flipped it twice into a ditch going 55mph. I walked out without a scratch. It was a tank and I still miss her to this day (RIP Sydney).

Aint' that the truth! The people that marketed those attack ships on Orion sure had egg all over their face when they went down in flames.

Mine is a 2011 Tundra 4wd 5.7 that I use daily in my construction related business. Haul lots of heavy loads on job sites and my current milage is 388,000 and still running well. Have replaced fuel pump, starter and alternator. Still has original belts and hoses. Should hit 400K in a couple of months.

Looks great. Well done on loading up the miles. Any advice for the crowd on maintaining the truck to achieve this type of mileage from a 5.7L?

My advice would be, drive it like a old man which i am. Accelerator has never been to the floor. I change the oil every 5K and regularly haul loads over 1500# and it just keeps going like a Toyota should.

A few more unique things about my Tundra. Although it has high mileage, the truck has never been out of the state that I live in ( Alabama ). As I said I use it in my small business so I make dozens of stops every work day at suppliers, job sites and customer appointments. I rarely drive it more than 50 miles outside of Birmingham. I think that makes the reliability of the Tundra even more impressive with the amount of short trips I make and very little true highway miles.

Great stories here. I just traded in my 2017 Taco DC TRD OR for a 2013 Tundra MC TRD OR Limited. Needed a bit more oomph for towing horses. Going backwards on the tech is a bit hard, but otherwise just love the truck. My 4th Tundra. Has had 2 owners, 112k, and maintenance done religiously every 5k by dealers. Doesn't look like any major work has needed to be done. Runs and tows like a champ. Interior and exterior look new. Very happy and plan to hang onto this one for a looooong time.
