Glad to see this idea still has momentum. I have acquired a 3rd gen bumper and scanned it. Need to sit down and design the high clearance bumper ends then I will show you guys what I come up with.

I’m in. I’d maybe bring in @Bannock452 into this convo if he ever leaves the desert (yeah I follow you on ig) he makes some pretty rad brackets to hold the fogs and either the current version or maybe an updated version could help with the fog mounting.

Hahah sorry I’m finally back from the desert! Was a great long trip! But after looking into this thread and seeing all the cool renderings I think it’s a very cool idea! The Baja fog brackets I have made would fit nicely and could help the look of the modified bumper cap. But also the back/underside of the fog light would essentially look unfinished if it were to just be cut right off. Unless another fabricated cap was made to finish the body lines from the back wheel well area. Just another idea for everyone to think about.

I got the 3rd gen bumper installed on my 2nd gen. Will be working on the design for fabricated, high-clearance end caps soon.

Wondering if anyone has made any progress on this?

Also trying to get @WSDMetal interested. He makes some bumpers for other trucks and seems to have an eye for clean and simple.

It’s next in my list. I have scanned the stock bumper cap so I can model the High Clearance version in CAD.

Do you have a game plan for what you’ll do about the brackets behind/under the caps? If you can keep one lower mount point intact this might work great, and you’ll have to chop out minimal structure behind the fog.

Ya, I was initially thinking about cutting a lot more of the end cap, but I realized that I need to keep the inmost lower mounting point because it indirectly holds the center section of bumper as well. I'll trim the steel bracket where I can, but will be keeping one lower mounting point.

Doesn't look like this thread ever went anywhere in terms of an off-the-shelf aftermarket solution. But check out what this guy did on his own with a hole saw. From what I can tell, it looks AWESOME!!! Also, it looks like a set of factory new black plastic end caps are only $250 so I may consider buying a set and doing it on those instead of my color-matched ones.

What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Some folks have, since this thread began, made a lot of headway in accomplishing a perfect viper cut for the tundra. It’s apparently a difficult truck to do it on because, in part, the fog location. I plan on doing this mod in the next couple months and I’m wondering if anyone here has developed a true measurement or template to make that cut? I’ve seen one thread devoted to how one guy did his, but I’m pretty dumb and much of it went over my head.

and that orange one above me, that owner doesn’t post much but I’d love to pick his brain
