Used to be there was a dot on the base of the key that signaled you had an engine immobilizer. Can anyone tell me if that is still true? How to know? What's the new thing?
    Thank you in advance!

    Too many, but not enough....
I have a supplemental device in my truck that was dealer installed, its a blue LED light under the steering column. Not sure if they had different immobilizer otpions

if your truck had it stock, couldnt you go to toyota website and enter your vin to see what options and features were installed on the truck from factory?

Don't pretty much all modern (>2010 models) vehicles have the "immobilizer" which means there is an embedded chip in the key that must be near the ignition for it to work?

If you have a flashing red lock on your dash when you lock the truck you do. Even with a perfect copy of a key, if the chip is not programmed it will just crank and not start.
