    Hi All,

Thanks for having me. Been a huge Toyota fan since my 07 purchase in early 08. I was sold the second the salesman told me to step on it. I describe it as a sports car... that rarely complains. Toyota hit it out of the park on the first swing. I love it. No mods but I take care of it religiously and appreciate it almost every drive. I still get compliments on it. And the first person who drives it will probably buy it. Dare i say though... i think it drives better than my new 21.

Enter the 21. Same SR5 but double cab 6.5' bed vs single and 8' bed. The '07 handles like its on rails (imo. its a work truck) But the same model 21 handles like a more typical work truck. Little boat like. Neither has rear sway bar. Both have stock front sway bar. Neither has special wheels or tires.

I'm already resolved to getting rear TRD sway bar and maybe front one for the 21. Can anyone help me understand why these two similar vehicles handle so differently?

My unprofessional observation is maybe it has something to do with the front height difference and the weight distribution with the double vs single cab? I also feel a big difference with the gas pedal. The 07 has a light pedal easy to over press while the 21 is a more typical pedal.

Thanks for any thoughts. And thanks for all the helpful mod ideas i've read over the past week!

    '07:
    • Single cab
    • 16" steel wheels
    • 8' bed
    • 5.7L
    • stock front sway bar
    • no rear sway bar
    '21:
    • Dbl cab
    • 18" alloy wheels
    • 6.5' bed
    • 5.7L
    • stock front sway bar
    • no rear sway bar

So far planned for the 21:
    • sway bars
    • bed liner
    • custom something over the wheel hump to hold coffee and things. (i should have gotten the limited ed. for this reason alone. The 21 lost 1 of 2 glove boxes, both eyeglass holders in each door. And 2 cup holders.)
    • tonneau cover
    • remote tailgate lock
    • maybe a half rack for the ladder i carry once or twice a year now

Welcome from OKC! Your not the first to notice a difference in the function of the skinny pedal.

I remember there being a recall on the pedal. i think they cut a corner off the pedal as a fix. but it presses very differently. thx for the heads up @2mchfun i'll look into the skinny pedal.

rear sway bar makes a big difference, well worth the investment of a couple hundred bucks.

Not sure if your truck has the TRD sport or TRD OR package, if not you have the black shocks...the black shocks suck and greatly influence the boat like handling.

My truck has the OR package, shocks are better than the black ones but it would still wallow in turns and such, RSB really helped.

I'm thinking i have the black shocks. Maybe they should be replaced when sway bar go on.

Those black things Toyota uses for shocks, yeah pure waste of space in the landfills. I can't believe they literally assembled my truck with garbage and got away with it too. Even worse, people turn around and list take offs for sale! Mind boggling.

Thanks Seth. Don't have many pics. Wish i did. but... This 18x8 trailer was towed with ease. Even with the rack and everything else. That was an old adrienne steel rack. Great rack but rusted all over. Next move was to alum rack. Wish i started with the alum rack.

All shined up and ready for listing.... hurts to see this one go, but its time.

For those interested in the story above... the 21 is growing on me. Had about 1000 lbs in the back earlier this week and decided to press tow/haul. What a difference in the 21! Not so much a difference in the 07. Maybe thats some of the difference felt between the two years.

Anyhow, can't wait for some mods to happen on the 21. Pics will come.
