Hey Toyota...What happened to my tiny light for cup holder/console area?

Just dropped my truck off at dealer for a new windshield and got a good laugh walking through the parking lot. A TACOMA with MT and dorkel, $57,100, that's F150 Platinum category for a bunch of plastic junk, absolutely no convenience features, and 4 cyl LOL they have lost their minds.

It's still in the current Sequoia, never left, so that doesn't jive

That's 1794 territory, too. Still about $5k less than a Tundra TRD Pro but what can you do?

You hit the nail on the head. Key point is that every manufacturer is doing it.

At least folks on here aren't buying low end trucks, complaining that the truck didn't come with certain features (information readily available before purchasing) and spending as much or more to add those features as it would have cost to just get a higher trim in the first place like everyone has been doing on GM-Trucks.

It does seem to me that other manufacturers are increasing their comfort technologies while Toyota is removing them from their vehicles. I test drove a competitor at an identical price before purchasing my Tundra and the features were amazing. Memory seat/steering positions assigned by key, 3 dimensional camera, remote start by phone, powered pedals, heated wheels, all led lighting....you name it. At the end if the day I still chose my Tundra but they could at least act like they want my business

On the car I learned to drive on, a '62 Rambler Ambassador station wagon, there was this little metal push-button on the left side floor of the driver side, under the dash, that when pressed with the left foot, turned on the brights until you released your foot. Great idea, I have not seen it personally in any other car I have driven (not even sure it was a stock thing on that car). I keep thinking that one day, I am going to do that to my truck... After I figure out that second flip-down visor mod I want to to. Maybe a trip to 'pick-a-part' to scrounge one from a first gen Tundra to see if it is do-able. At least I got the center-console light covered with that cool little flashlight.

Yea, even as they tout all the electronic wiz bang (I never needed my emails read to me before), other things go the way of the dinosaur.

I can't speak for others, but my 2019 SR5 has an indicator for fog lights in the dash. It's right there with the high beam and auto high beam indicators.

Indeed, they listen. They are slow, but they listen. Funny note on that, I was reading an article on why the Crewmax has the back seats it does, instead of the sliding and reclining backs that it used to; apparently Toyota did a poll/survey asking what people wanted, and the bottom fold up design won. The guy managing the project was shocked, and couldn't believe it, but the majority of those asked wanted the current set up over the old one, so that's what they did.

Apparently I didn't read it. I watched it. lol

A lot of OLD cars had that setup. Don’t know why it isn’t a thing still.

@AzureNightmare this is our first truck, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Obviously I'd like more built in storage, we all would. But as for the rear seats, I don't sit in them so am fine with them being stationary and so are our teen boys.

I have used the flip up seat option, many times a week. Be it putting something heaving back there or grocery's with jugs of milk on the floor or flipping it up so our old dog can get in on the floor and then jump up in the seat and then jump down on the floor so she can get out at the dog park.

I was just using that as an example of them listening. I personally prefer the flip up seat over the slide and recline, and wish the truck came with under seat storage back there.

I'm in complete agreement in all accounts.

The survey would go out to general or select buyers too. It may be a completely different outcome of they offered the same survey to tundras.com members.

Surveys or stats can be skewed to make the outcome they want it to be. Usually the survey is done to back up an already made up decision or result. Numbers can be funny that way and are very manipulative. At least in my experience with doing QCC numbers and stats at work for the higher ups.

Stats and polls can absolutely be fudged just by phrasing the question in a different way.
If the question was handled the way they said in the video then it was directed at current Crewmax owners and it asked if they wanted a fold up seat or the slide and recline. Pretty sure that the 80%+ for the fold up would be echoed here. True, some want storage under the seat or a flat floor back there, but I think most would take the current set up over slide and recline in the back seat.

Congrats on choosing an awesome truck and the best color, BTW.

Got that right. I noticed your profile earlier.

We have only seen one other Cavalry Blue in town here of many, many Tundras. I like having something a little different without being over the top or in your face.

:threadjacked:Same reason I got it; I never see it. That, and the way it changes depth based on the light. Everything from a muted blue-gray in low light to a bright almost robin egg blue is the blazing sun. I've had the truck less than 6 months and have had several people asking about the color. They could care less about anything else about it, but that Cavalry Blue turns heads due to rarity and being pretty.
