I had everything in pretty tight and checked at 53Ft lbs... turned so easily I thought I was way off so tightened some more and snap. Luckily I should be able to get a good grip on the thread portion of the nut if I take the valve cover back off.

Glad you got through it brother. I had it for less than a week in early December. I only had mild symptoms, not even a cough. It left me with no smell or taste. After almost 4 months... I still don't have those back. Pisser. Trying to retrain my brain to smell and taste again but still not getting much back. Sugar and salt, that's about it. I'm starting to be able to smell vanilla and a couple other things.

Question, there is fresh oil right below the valve cover and I haven’t even started the engine since putting the VC back on... how could that be? I cleaned the VC really well and even then, shouldn’t the new gasket stop this from happening?

    maybe cause I over tightened?

    Thanks!

Is it the drivers side? Did you do an oil change and fill it while it was loose?

    Residual from the heads possibly.

Wipe it off and start it to see if it comes back. If you've replaced the bad bolt(s).

The mans hands have potential! After an Oprah Winfrey Makeover, he’d be a solid 9 out of 10.

Spilling tequila on your hands due to vigorous shot execution may be one heck of a moisturizing routine.

Yes. The Natural Agavé has therapeutic powers. Sometimes a Shaman will make a visit if enough is used.
