Help with disabling the orange DRL on 2016 - SR5

That sounds right to me (2 filaments). The brighter (DRL) filament is also the blinker/turn signal filament. The dimmer/low power filament comes on with the headlights & parking lights and isn't affected by the DRL mod.

I'm not sure about how the lights function with the emergency brake since I rarely use it.

 

I've been trying this at least 2 times. I've never de-pinned anything but have a pining set. Do you go from the outside opening or the inner opening? It's just not coming out. What's the technique?

 

I had a very hard time and had just decided to cut the wire when the wire de-pinned on my last effort. Still not sure what I did but if you scroll down / do a page search for "Gray wire (AKA Amber DRL Delete Mod)" on this thread there is an excellent diagram and instructional.

Tried the third time and said "F it..." and cut it, taped it and moved on.

Those pins are a PITA!!!!

I have the same issue and haven’t been able to find answer. I updated the headlights to the 2019 Pro housing and cut the grey wire but the amber drls remain on with the headlights on. Also my front turn signals do not work when the head lights are on, the from ambers remain on and don’t not blink. Only the taillights blink.

 

I have a 2015. I have done the DRL mod by cutting the gray wire but anyone here know which wire from the light socket is for parking lights?

I essentially want my front amber bulb to only come on when I use the turn signal.

I want to prevent the amber bulb from coming in when I turn my parking lights on.

 

In 2016 and I assume 2015, Amber DRL is ON as soon as you start the engine and parking brakes off ... and it's not connected to parking lights.

 

Yes. I was able to disable the DRL now I’m trying to prevent the front turn signal bulb from turning on when I turn my parking lights on

 

Do you have a new head light with LED parking lights? Otherwise you will have no parking lights at all.

 

On my 2016 it’s the purple wire

 

I wonder if it’s the same. I guess the only way to find out is to test it with a power test light.

I just did this on my 07 tundra and my wife’s 08 sequoia ,after my passenger turn signal stopped working

Here’s what my tundra socket looked like

i will be replacing both sockets and getting new bulbs

 

How have your hr harnesses been holding up i just got them both did exactly the same mod

 

Today, I installed an OEM appearing switch to turn the DRL on and off. We camp, fish, and hunt. The automatic lights are a hindrance. The thin gray wire is the correct one.
