Wow good thing you were on top of it before things really got torn up! What brand of glue trap is that? Never seen a neon green one like that.

Yeah I’m really glad they were nice enough to make their presence obvious by making a huge mess out of the Kleenex box two days in a row.

The glue trap was from Home Depot. The 4 lb mini sledge that finished off what the glue trap started was in my tool box.

I’m up to 3 now! Just went and checked the traps again before going to bed and found another! I wish I knew where in the truck they were hiding so I could clean it out of mouse crap and whatever else they dragged in there. I took everything out of the truck today and vacuumed the heck out of it and cleaned everything I could. But obviously these three were somewhere hiding.

Based on the debris in the fresh air intake, blower motor, and under the front passenger seat, I’d guess they were in the rear seat vent under the passenger seat or between there and the blower motor. I ran the heat for 15 min earlier in the day trying to force anything out but didn’t see anything. I guess they could also have been under the carpet or under the center storage box. Maybe I’ll take apart the center console next time I have time.

This is why I hate glue traps but man you got a problem! 3 of them already, I'd keep baiting till you come up empty.

Sonofa! Glue trap failure - 3 down but there is at least one more that got away. He left a present on the trap and ate the plastic. Guess I need another couple 4-packs of traps. This is nuts!

Whoa! That is a lot bigger than the ones I’ve killed so far. I didn’t realize how common this is.

So when you have Recirculate on and you turn off the truck, does the vent stay shut?

At least for awhile yes. I tested it while I had the blower motor and air filter out and could see the recirculate damper (or whatever it’s called) move when I hit the button. I turned the truck off and it stayed closed. I’m not sure if the electronics in the truck do anything to manage it while it’s parked and off for a long period. It would be nice if it automatically closed when parked regardless of the setting just to avoid this problem.

I always have mine on recirculation. I'm in Tampa FL. We only have like 5 days of cold weather. But that's when me and a few other guys at work had issues. Check the AC filter regularly. That's the first barrier they chew through. All the tundras at work had been chewed up. Mine went through.

My rat was too big to fit through a vent, but I assume that's how the little ones went inside your truck.

:eek2: I think I need to go put some traps out in the garage and truck just for good measure.
I think the truck is okay. I always leave it on recirculation and I have never seen any evidence of intruders, but my garage is another story - I have had mice before and I killed a snake 2 weeks ago just outside the door.

Like @Jra8 said, check your cabin air filter in the back of your glove box. If you see any chew marks or holes that would be a good indicator to check further or put traps. Coming in the fresh air intake, after disassembling the whole system, I don’t see any way they can get in the cabin without going through the filter.

In case anyone wonders what a mouse chewed air filter looks like, this is mine. (Yes, super dirty. I have 19,000 miles and expected it to last longer and hadn’t checked it before.)

It is more chewed since yesterday so the one that escaped the trap must have tried to get out. He would have been blocked by the recirculate damper. I wish I knew where he was now. Worried he worked himself to exhaustion getting off the glue trap last night and is dead somewhere in a vent now.

Little asshole mice! I had one get under my hood and chewed the shit out of my wiper hoses. Pooped all over the engine cover too. Replaced the hoses and washed that shit off (literally). Sprayed everything with a water and vinegar mix. Hoping it helps kill their scent so they won’t come back.

I have found ,at least where i live in the sticks. we leave the hood up on all our cars. And a few cheap Glue traps layin around.
But we do live in a place where we never need to lock our cars or house.

My Girls car has had the speed sensor wire eaten- Baby mice in the wheel well be the little mud flap-and her window washer water hose eaten.

One time a litte mouse ran across the seat over her leg.

Now that my Aunt down the driveway from me got rid of her chickens we have less

Here's a thought though, check to make sure that the truck actually stays in recirculate mode once it's shut off. On mine, I can leave it in recirculate mode, the light stays on, shut the truck off, stay in the truck and listen carefully. After about a minute the truck will take itself out of recirc and revert back to fresh air. Turn the key back on and it puts itself back into rec and the light is on. This is why I installed the screen coverings
