i was hanging with my friend telling him I am in market for a nice used Tundra and he said he is thinking he is getting a new titan. Not the xd just the titan pro 4 x. I looked and there is not much info out on the new ones. Any info you guys may have would be welcomed. In the mean time I will be texting him pictures of tundras to try and change his mind.

Have him do some real research. I was looking at both the titan and the tundra this spring. There were issues with side impacts on the Nissan and a lot of complaints about other items. The Tundra on the other hand is a awesome, reliable, gas guzzling beast which I love.

Truck is flat out ugly......looks like a 2014 F150 mated with a 2014 Titan...and had the ugliest baby on the planet

Look into their new 5.6. They really did improve their engine. I hope Toyota makes some improvement with 2018 models.

Titan would be my second choice of truck (based on our experience with Nissan NV 3500).

In all honesty, he's the only one that can make that decision. As far as reliability goes, there's a reason you don't see the titan on the beaten path... Plus, consumer reports. Toyota/Lexus has been well over Nissan for years.

The inputs are totally spot on. I like get a new friend one best. He has mainly been a ford guy so that may be why he likes them. I know they are totally new this year and from my perspective the main reason to stay away. I have a taco today but getting ready to upsize to Tundra when I get back in town from holidays. I told him to read this forum and the titan forum and that alone will be a huge indicator.

I believe the gas tank on the Titan is only 26gallons vs the Tundras 38. One thing to point out as I think its a real good selling point of the new Tundras.

I sold my '09 Titan Pro 4X when I got my 2016 Tundra. It had 135K mostly true highway on it. I quit trusting it to go cross country. I had trans cooler hoses blow in Fl. Keys at 65K, a known problem Nissan never bothered to fix. Miami dealer did a poor repair either leaving trash or not filling trans completely (Owners manual says to check trans fluid bring to dealer) and I smoked that trans. AC could never keep up in New Orleans. Two sets of front shocks before I changed to 5100's. 2-3 Drivers seat backs, can't remember, foam failed. Tailgate easy open failed once or twice. Several batteries including one while in ND. Paint on front bumper was a joke. Front U joints failed at 100K, known Nissan issue. I'm sure I am forgetting something. It got the same 13.5 MPG I get in my Tundra. 4wd with locking diff did get me out of a few places I should have never been but I would not buy another one. Read up on the Titan site.

I too had a titan before the tundra. Bought mine used and modded the heck out of it. Issues i had were cracked exhaust manis (replaced with long tubes and a cat back) front doff blew up for no reason (never wheeled) trans mount failed (what a pain to change) i had it uprev tuned when i did the long tubes. Made awesome power. Got aweful mpg. I liked the truck alot. It was the 4 door ext cab. Sold it bc i needed 4 full doors when i had my son. No ill feelings toward it. I am enjoying my used tundra tho. I personally prefer the looks of the tundra but really dont care for either stock. I feel the tundra is a higher quality vehicle.

Your friend cant go wrong either way imo.

I say let him buy one. Seem like decent trucks.

However, one of my co-workers sons was a tech at Toyota in town and left to go work for Nissan due to the money. This tech now mostly chases wires due to the wiring harnesses are shit.

I have no care either way, don't own a Tundra or a Titan, just going off what he says he now does all day, every day.

Tell him that 1st and 2nd Generations Tundras are STILL Strong and going over 200 thousand miles, still working properly with no major issues - Knock on wood. I don't think Nissan can say the same, or Chevy, GMC, Ford, RAM, I don't mention Ridgeline because I don't think its a real pick up anyhow.

I just towed a 4600 lbs (trailer and 67 VW Bug) from San Diego to San Antonio. No issues whatsoever, not even going through the mountains heading into Arizona. I did that with a 2007 Tundra with 212,800 miles on the odometer. I was going 60-65 miles all the way.

Welllllllll, two of my close friends have 01/02 Chevy 1/2 tons with over 230k miles with the original drivetrain. If you don't abuse them, they last.

I was beating on mine and it really started showing within 15k miles.

Well I may be getting to him. the insight about waiting a year or sinir buy Tundra now is what he is thinking. he said the used tundras are too expensive and I told him you get what you pay for. Tundras will run all day with minimal issues and hold their value along the way. Great advise guys. Thanks.

I was talking about the Titan XD. Nissan has some really nice vehicles, I personally think the XD misses the mark a little, especially for a complete redesign.

I have to have reliability, my Tundra's past and present have always provided this. I can't speak for a Titan, but I believe WarEagleSteve and Over The Line. I would not own a Nissan based on their story and other stories and reviews I have read.

that article lost me at "..the genius behind Ram's great rides..." for real?! dodge makes some shit vehicles and rams are no exception. i think brand loyalty is the biggest reason people don't buy tundra's. they don't see toyota as a "truck" brand.
