I still have a some remorse as well. I get to see my old 05 tundra everyday , a guy bought down the road from me. He stops by saying how much he likes "his" truck and I'm still getting used to the size of the new (14)tundra and the fact I have payments. I sometimes wish I just spent 5/7 k on the old 05, not to pretty it up because I loved the fact I didn't mind scratching it. I've only owned the newer tundra for 3 months, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

This ^^^ I am on my 2nd SR5 and will continue buying them. My 2014 I bought on a F150 Lariat trade-in and let me tell you that it was loaded (crap I hardly used). To me, a truck, especially a 4x4, is best felt as a truck when it doesn’t look like a Cadillac on the inside. That way I can get it dirty w/o crying all the time...

It's hard to explain the Toyota advantage to someone until they own one. Not as many features as others, but they rarely have issues. Very refined.

You've got to be kidding. Robin Hood was awesome. I'd love if my Tundra was a Robin Hood.

I understand some of what you say. I bought a 2018 1794 4x4 TRD Off Road and I would have a difficult adjustment to go back to a SR5. However, all the different cab/trim choices give us an opportunity to have the truck we want. While the 1794 does not have all the doodads other brands have, it has plenty of the ones I wanted.

I've seen some comments on here about the Tacoma. The bad one is the latest gen tacoma. I had a 2016 and it was very disappointing. It had no power, the "self cleaning" fuel injector had a really annoying whistle. Took it to the dealer and they said it was normal. The transmission jumped when I switched from reverse to drive. A software update fixed the issue, but still. Sold it with 10k miles and jumped on the Tundra bandwagon, sort of. I have the SUV version of the Tundra (2011 Sequoia) I bought new in 2011 and have 90k miles on it. No issues whatsoever. The Tundra runs the same motor and I think tranny so that made my choice easy for the Tundra. 2017 LCM and no issues in the 18k miles I've driven it. Acutally one issue, but it's my fault. Put a readylift spacer in to level the truck and the stock shocks only lasted 15k miles before they started squeaking. Upgrading the suspension soon with ICON and Total Chaos products.

It was between a brand new 2017 Tundra SR5 TRD and a demo 2016 RAM 1500 Sport w/ 10K miles when I was truck shopping. The RAM had very nice interior and ton of features. In the end, I couldn't get passed how poor the RAM is rated in the reliability department.

It sounds like you have regrets from not playing the field a little more when your GM crapped the bed on ya.

I put my GM ('01 Silverado) in the rear view 2 months ago... No Remorse, No Regrets (aside from not doing it sooner!) \m/ \m/.

Fortunately for you, Tundras hold their value; you should get an excellent trade-in if you still can't get over its "shortcomings".

I have a 2015 sr5 and would like a higher trim, but the sunroof kills the headroom for me. I added leather and the biggest improvement has actually been the 2018 LED lights. The DRL by themselves are as bright as the old stock headlights on low. Amazing difference.

No remorse on my part with the Tundra at all. The only issue I'm having is an occasionally vibrating/buzzing ECM, but that's a superficial problem and not a reliability issue. My buddy's girlfriend had a newer F150 that has been sold because it was in and out of the shop with timing chain issues, among other problems. The dealer kept giving her the run around and basically admitted they couldn't fix it. So she got rid of the F150 for.....another Ford, this time an SUV. Given issues like that, I'll take a little buzzing here and there. (Though come hell or high water, I'm going to get the buzzing resolved).

Honestly, I have never given any thought to the issues you have. I sometimes think the “beep” when locking is to damn loud. Are you looking for your neighbors to get confirmation?
Change out the sound system. It is weak.
Drive your Tundra and enjoy the fact that it will be reliable for a long time to come.
Or, trade it in for a Chevy so you get a factory tennis shoe light.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.

I did the same thing with a Ford F150 two years ago Needed a trany rebuild. I had my own issues with some creature comforts but after two years and some customizations, I couldn't be happier. Besides the Ford, and Chevy (New) were at least 8 to10 grand more than I paid for the Tundra, Its got more power, in my mind than my f 150 did. I own a 1794 edition. Dam glad Too. good luck and welcome aboard.

I went from a brand new 2015 Sierra to my 2018 Tundra. I really liked my Sierra until it started having engine problems at 55k miles. Did my research and decided to buy the Tundra for its reliability. I dont regret it at all. I really like this truck.

My dad just bought a CPO 2018 GMC Yukon SLT 4x4 with a little over 8,000 miles. He didn't like the Sequoia because he deemed it to be too expensive for how outdated it was.

well believe it or not you probably bought the last good model year of the tundra.

when the new ones come out they will have all the latest and greatest nannies, gadgets, bells and whistles and the anti nannies will hate them to high hell and beyond, and you will not pry their tight grips off of their 2019s and below.

nobody will want the new engine because its not the same as the current and highly reliable engine, many will want the diesel version which packs more clean air nannies and def fluid, particulate filters and e.g.r's that plug up and then will complain about the premium paid for the cost of diesel etc. and not getting 30 or mpgs while towing at full weight.

complaints will pour in for the under powered turbo charged v6, perhaps the aluminum bed, maybe the incandescent turn signals or reverse lights, the entune will sound better but there will be no woofer or a center speaker. it will feature loads of new technology that has never been tried and proven on this platform so we will see a whole new wave of problems and the masses will go ape shit and complain to toyota hq for ruining the tundra and demand buy backs.

the trd pro wont feature a meatier tire or light bars in all the hood scoops and rear bumper, it wont have the super charger, and 50 ft of ground clearance, and it will have some dumb mud flap that the tires rub while flexing at 90 degrees and towing, all the lights will be fully blacked out and everyone will complain that they cant see shit at night and that they should have equipped it with a flir to help with that issue while off roading or traveling the dimly lit loading dock side off the mall and the list goes on.

by then, you my friend will be fully done with buyers remorse and answering this exact same question to all the new owners that jumped shipped to the latest and greatest technologically advanced and ergonomically re engineered tundra. you will be so used to adjusting mirrors, looking at your headlights for confirmation that the truck is locked, will have discovered that the beep is adjustable via the mfd or the radio to a louder chirp setting, you will fully embrace the suck associated with our stereo, you will fully use the controls on the steering wheel no matter on what side they are on in any given car and maybe you will have figured out how to use the voice commands without repeating them over and over. you wont give a shit any more about the fuel tank reserve and you will be thankful that you have the larger capacity tank, you wont care anymore about looking at the dirt trapped on your floor mats with the footwell lighting. you will have either added leather seats or bought the covers and you will never remember the ten year old truck that you had grown used to.

remember manual transmissions? and suddenly automatics took over america we were always stepping on the missing clutch pedal and pretending to shift?.

at the end of the day all of this boils down to all of us being creatures of habit and creatures of comfort, when we are derailed from our habits or have our comforts we removed we flip shit and complain about all the things that we should be grateful for.

It's funny that you mention "the suck associated with our stereo"...

I have about $600 invested in the aftermarket system in my 2nd Gen Tacoma. I have not heard the factory JBL system in a Tundra, but I have heard the JBL systems in my aunt's 2009 RAV4 Limited and a coworker's new 3rd Gen Taco. Both of these absolutely kick ass.

My head unit is a Pioneer double-DIN, sending power through a Rockford Fosgate Prime external amp, to a JBL component speaker system and a Kicker 8" powered sub. My system sounds better than the factory Bang & Olufsen system in a $220K Audi RS8, as confirmed by the owner of said RS8 when he heard my stereo.

Some people might find this stupid, but one of the things I hate about new vehicles is that it is not that easy to replace even part of a stereo system due to it being intertwined with every else. Installing an aftermarket head unit is virtually impossible, and most new vehicles don't even come with CD players!

One of the things I love about my truck is that the stereo system is easy to remove and not in anyway intertwined with any other part of the vehicle, with the exception being that the subwoofer and amplifier are hooked up to the battery. If my truck gets totaled or something, I can easily remove the system and install it in another 2nd Gen Taco.

I would not mind automatic braking, but none of the other stuff in my opinion justifies the cost of a new vehicle. I would love to buy a Tundra, but even a used one is out of my price range right now.

Just kidding. I had a shit load of buyers remorse when I got my Platinum and *didn't* get the Pro I had wanted. After a few days though, it started to grow on me, as it is mine, and that is all that matters. I looked at the F150 extensively, almost bought a 250, but just couldn't do it. My 'yotas have never let me down. I'm sure it's all in my mind, but something about them just gives me confidence when I'm driving through the sticks at 2AM in a bizzard.

No doubt the Ford had the features. I loved the push start, keyless entry, all that shit. However, I value longevity and execution over that that, and I think you get that with Toyota. Give it some time, you'll learn to dig it. My 0.02.

I came from a 2008 Chevy 2500 Duramax which was deleted and tuned. That truck was a BEAST and got tons compliments.I loved that truck but it was 10 years old and I no longer needed a diesel. That being said,I enjoy my Tundra every bit as much but for different reasons. No buyers remorse here...
