Replaced door lock actuator motor in driver side rear door of our Tundra. Before reinstalling door panel I closed door to test. I can hear the actuator engaging but door will not unlock either by pulling the cable inside or by handle outside. I have tried with child lock armed and disarmed. Cannot open door to remove actuator to investigate. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

So, it sounds like you went through the process to actually disassemble the actuator and replace the motor and not the whole actuator assembly. If that is the case and you can hear the lock clicking back and forth but you are not getting the door handles to work, you may be up a certain creek, as they say. If you misplaced one of the little internal arms when you were reassembling you will never be able to disengage that door latch as far as I know short of cutting the door open.

I'm sorry your door does work OP and I'm not trying to sound preachy here but for the next person who tries this NEVER do your first test by closing the door! I have replaced all 4 actuator motors in my truck and I have a whole process. I always use a screwdriver to move the latch and then make sure that both the handles will unlatch it (which sounds like where you are stuck now) and then you can use your hand to hit the door sensor and test the lock without having to actually close the door. Then I always test it 3-4 times as many different ways as I can because I am paranoid that I will be locked out of my truck. And I'm not saying this because I haven't messed up, I had to reassemble my first actuator 3 times before I finally got everything into the proper place to function correctly.

Hopefully, somebody else has an idea of how to open it better than I do, and I really hope you don't have to cut up anything. Good luck man.

Thanks. Exactly what I was afraid of…..Hoping someone has an idea as to how I can unlock/cut/remove actuator from the inside without damaging the door

@Darkness I think I remember you involved in a similar thread but with a first-gen. Y'all old-timers got any wisdom here?

In my case the actuator wasn't the problem, but the linkage. I'm betting either linkage popped off or was not installed exactly right. Its pretty damn fiddly.

Try and grab the linkage and pull it by hand to see if you can open the door. At least you didn't put the panel back on so you have some access.

This pink link is the lock, you may be able to mes with that to get open. The other is the handle. They're both a lot of fun.

For my problem there was an arm here that I had to bend to get it to engage
