I recently purchased a 2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 Access Cab 4x4 with a 4.7L V-8 Automatic. It has keyless entry, power mirrors, and windows. As far as I know, it’s completely stock except for an old aftermarket CD player.

While inspecting under the dash, I found something taped to the back of what looks like electrical connectors. It was very hot even when the car was off. There are two sets of wires with a holder for something, maybe diodes?

I’m mainly interested in the second picture, as those little things were what was hot. But I’m also curious about those connector things in the first picture that were taped up.

    Thanks in advance!

those are factory diodes. perfectly normal. the prevent backwards flow to other circuits. ones for the power windows i know... other i'm not sure.. but do not remove or things wont work

the connectors are just junction blocks. makes 1 wire feed multiple.. things not meant to be touched much

I really wish Toyota would've labeled the damn junctions so I knew which junction they were. Is it J3? J24? J10? If I knew the junction, it would make reading the damn EWD so much easier.

@DustyTrailRider welcome to the forum and congrats on your recent 1st gen addition. If you haven't already found it, we have a community-sourced thread on the ins-and-outs of owning a 1st Gen over here we try to keep up with, it's a living document, constantly being updated. You'll find links to a lot of links in the 4th or 5th paragraph to stuff that's worth downloading, like service manuals, wiring diagrams, etc.

I hope when you go to update the stereo to something more modern, or rollback to something OEM, you find the previous owner didn't cut OEM harnesses, and properly bypassed the OEM amplifier in the dash.

Thank you! the EWD are overly vague. Took me a hour to get the right gnd trigger for passenger puddle light lol.
