I am new here and found this site while searching for things to help my Tundra look and feel more luxurious like dash trim, AC Panel Upgrade, Conversion to leather, Sound system, etc.. Cant do it all at once so I will pick and chose as I go.

Seems like a great forum and I found a lot of good stuff on the Tundra here. Thanks!

    A few questions:
I have scanned through soooo many threads here but didn't see anything very specific on them

My Tundra has all manual setting AC panel. I don't necessarily need dual zone but I would like to be able to set a temp and have it automatically adjust fan speeds and air temps. Is this something that can reasonably $$$ be done?

I want to convert from cloth to leather. I saw some nice options from Katzin but I see a lot of other brands for less $$. I also want to add heat and venting to the front seats. What are your thoughts? Is this an easy DIY project? Have you gone this route and if so, are you happy with it?

Along with the seats, I would like to match up on the doors, console and dash for a better color flow. Any recommendations/sources?

Thanks for any information you can share :)

Welcome from SoCal. Can't help you much with 3rd gen options, but someone will be along with some answers. The answers to most questions are here on the forum somewhere :p but can take some digging. Post some pics.

    Welcome from the Pacific Northwest.
Digital climate controls require a bit more work in the gen3 trucks. The manual AC air box is single zone, while the digital is dual zone. So you’re looking at air box swap including all the servo motors (requires almost full dash removal), the controller, the AC ECU (called an amplifier), plus wiring and a number of other small parts to fully make it work. Is it possible? Yes. Is it easy and inexpensive? Nope. You might be able to get some function from the Phoenix “tesla” style chinese head units, but not sure - I’ve not researched those very much.

I see and I suspected something like that.. could it be replaced as a larger module? Inclusive of other parts that might not really be needed but... As a mod it would possibly be simple? Or am I just hoping, wishing, dreaming.... Lol

You’ll not find one source for it as a single plug and play swap. You’ll have to source the parts and do the work to get everything switched.

I did it in my Gen 2 (2008), but those have a dual zone airbox so it was a little less involved (by a little - no airbox swap). Even buying used from a wrecking yard, you’ll find the prices can be steep too. Pretty sure all said and done I was ~$1200 into doing it in my Gen 2.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! You have some ambitious goals for your truck. If you figure out how to do some of it and actually execute the upgrade, please take lots of pics, or even a video, and post it here as a How To. . . Good luck!

I had a phoenix headunit for my gen 2 for a short while. It is a bit different but it did replace the AC controls. You wont magically get dual zone, but I believe it did have a form of digital automatic temp control for those with manual, their video said it wasnt a precise thing. I'll see if I can dig the video out for you.

    (72) How to: Connect and Set up 13.6" 2003-2013 Toyota Tundra - YouTube around the 5:50 says that it does give a form of automatic temp control (again for gen2, but I doubt they removed it, can always call if you are interested)
