Anyone else have a very pronunced rattle in their headliner. Mine is straight forward, you close the door or on a bumpy road it rattles. If I tap on the headliner anywhere behind the sunroof it rattles, I have not dropped the liner to check it out, is this common? I showed it to the service guy at Toyota he said next time its in they will take a look. My experience has been that I will get my truck back with greasy had prints all over it and they will say they can't find the rattle. Seems to me that the headliner is kind of floating, are there clips that attach to the roof?

Sorry to hear that. My 2016 1794 doesnt have that issue. I'd say take it in and have them look at it.

My headliner rattles very slightly at the very edge where it meets the windshield, but I don't think it has anything to do with the sunroof. I messed with it a bit and it has stopped rattling since then (knock on wood).

Definitely take it in. Just ask about the hand prints that way they know they are on notice.:hattip:

My wifes 2012 (at the time had 6,000 miles) 4runner had the "sunroof rattle". It turned out to be the track where the sunroof slides in. There is a black plastic accordion style part on the left and right side. That part would rattle in the track. I took it to Toyota and they put a small felt style pad where it slides. This made the tolerance tighter and stopped the rattle. Soon after the rattle came back after the felt worn down a little. At first Toyota said it was normal. I told them it's not normal because when I put pressure on those parts it stops rattling. I asked to drive another runner on the lot. The tech and I drove the new runner and it didn't have any rattle. So they decided it wasn't "Normal".

You can see the little pad they put right where the track is.
