I just did my 2006 DC headlights with the clean / wet sand / Spray Max 2K Clear.
Came out WAAAY better than I expected.

My neighbor has a 2006 Tacoma with one headlight that is original and the other that is new. The orig. one was foggy, so his drunk brother had the genius idea to wipe it with acetone . . . pretty much turned it white. Then he tried 'sanding' it with "I kid you not" 220 grit sandpaper. So I said, "If you wanna be my guinea pig, I can try to fix it, but no guarantees". Started wet sanding with 320 grit and went all the way up to 2000. Then wiped with alcohol before spraying 3 coats of 2K clear. Blew me away !!! . . . you had to look real close and at an angle to see a few drunk brother scratches . . . but I'd say it came out at least 95% of brand new. It looks better than the newer one on the other side.

So after fixing his mess, I kinda got the hang for how close to spray and how slow to move the can, and did mine. Other than a 2 little 'chips' on one side, and 1 chip on the other . . . they are as good as new and that stuff dries hard ! I did 4 coats and got zero orange peel.

The guy I sold my 2003 AC to came by, and he was blown away. I had enough left in the can to do another set of headlights, and so i gave it to him along with the sandpaper. He went home and did his and was able t get 3 or 4 coats on his. He was stoked !

We'll see how long they last looking this good, but so far I am VERY impressed and think this is by far the best route to restore headlights.

If you decide to do this, make sure you use a respirator & not a mask, that stuff is nasty !!!

I’ve done it all, wet sand, clear coat kits, work great, eBay full lighting kits, fit pretty well and have an ok beam pattern (I’m on my second set) and I have replaced them with OEM, which is really the way to go, perfect fit and OEM beam pattern.

If you plastic wax them regularly they will last a long time.

I prefer my blacked out look that I got off eBay for like $135.

I went with the Turtle Wax kit as well. Took, maybe ten minutes, tops. Great result.

I can't say enough about the Cerakote. It comes with deoxidizer, 2000 and 3000 grit sanding pads and a sealer. It's not hard, just a little tedious. It's also very unforgiving if you mess it up, so read the directions and watch the video first. It says it's guaranteed for 200 car washes.

Just replace with OEM, been there done that, lots of wasted time and money. Replace and move on. If your concerned about them hazing over again put some head light protection film over them like Xpel.
