    Hey ya'll,

So my buddy is trying to convince me to upgrade my battery to this X2Power group 27 one, and I was wondering if what I have now is comparable to that one. My 21' came with the HD battery and alternator upgrade. The only thing I know for sure is that this X2Power battery is sealed, whereas mine is not.

Other than that, how much different is the performance of my set up compared to that one?

I would save the $ and use it for another upgrade or mod. Your battery should last 3+ years, and has a warranty. When it finally dies, then look at an upgraded replacement.

If you have a 2021, you have some time before you do anything battery-wise. I don't know how different the HD battery is from the standard battery, but if they are from the same supplier, I suspect 3 years life will be optimistic. A few batteries will last that long or longer, some less, but the average life for the standard battery on 2016+ Tundras has been about 24 months.

As for the X2 battery, you can tell your friend that Northstar, the company that made both the Northstar AGM and the X2 AGM, has been bought out by Exide (Odyssey, Optima, et. al.) I don't think that you will be able to buy X2 batteries once current supply is exhausted. Northstar AGM batteries will still be available as a premium battery ($$$) through Odyssey as "NorthstarPro".

Below is a link to the thread poll that I base the 24 month average life on. Basically, beginning sometime 2015-2016, Tundra battery quality took a nose dive. Some of the good batteries from 2015-2016, are represented (IMO) by the big lump of data out on the long-life end of the statistical "curve".
