To your point though Philly, just hit the site - they added another $1k off the 1794 I was looking at overnight for a discount total of $7397...and as retired mil I get another $500 or so. Not bad price right now for the risk.

"IMHO" and claims of "smoke screens" are not really proof either to be fair. That doesn't mean I trust Toyota more than random internet posters... but you can't really jump on folks who do.

I'm trying to initiate a buyback now. I owe too much for a trade in to be a viable option anyway. Especially with the depreciation and the fact no one wants them. Don't know if it will go in my favor cause corporate said they would abide by my states lemon laws with are 30 days in the shop in 24 months and 24k miles. I dropped it off at the 24 month mark and I have 28k miles. I did ask the dealership to see if the could grease the wheels a bit if I considered buying one of their 2024s on the lot that no one is buying. It may end up have the same problem but her that's 28k miles from now problem.

I see a lot of parallels with how things where when I first got the 2017 Tacoma. There were tons of known issues, no solutions, tons of sky is falling the 6AT and 3.5L v6 wouldn't last.

That being said as an early adopter of both platforms the owner experience can be miserable before things get worked out.

The main problem being that there are a lot of issues currently the dealer isn't able to fix because it involves updated software or redesigned parts. TSB's only recently came out for some long time issues.
Even when a new TSB hits there is lag time before techs go back and check for the new info and learn that an issue they may have been told previously is "normal" wasn't normal after all.

The way its going, the dealers simply cannot fix any of these new problems because they need Toyota to provide guidance. The dealership doesn't have any skin in the game to spend a lot of time on "new" problems and report these issues up the chain. It probably takes way more owners complaints to get things moving then what might be required in an ideal service, especially on low volume trucks like the tundra.

Walking out of service with your problem being told its "normal" only to learn 6-12 months later its a fixable issue is a miserable owner experience.

It's a much a service issue as any design, engineering, or assembly issue.

Service departments are turning into the help desk, they can't fix anything they can only open a ticket and pass it to someone else.
