We have no raccoons in our rural area. The wolves take care of them. Way too far north for possums. I have to deal with the occasional ground hog, foxes, deer, porcupines and the occasional bear which I chase off with the side by side.

If you want something fun that doesn't take up a bunch of space, get a motorcycle. You can even lie to yourself and say it'll save you money!

Check your local regs about relocation of animals. Many states don't allow it. My state does not and coons are to be dispatched humanly and are not to be moved off the property. The buzzards in my area know the night time crack of a centerfire rifle means breakfast by the bird feeder in the morning.

Haven't had a squirrel in my Tundra but had mice in the engine compartment of my 2007 Tacoma so started putting mouse traps in the engine compartment. Got a lot of mice and the local ravens got used to seeing me head for the backyard to empty the traps. One day I caught a chipmunk.20230813_140150.jpg

I just got an alert to activity on this thread, which is funny because I literally just got done rodent-proofing (hopefully) my truck. I cut up four pieces of microfiber towel and zip tied them to various places in the engine bay, then doused each one with about ten drops of peppermint essential oil. Then I did a water and peppermint oil mixture in a spray bottle and went to town under the hood. I'll probably reload the towel shards and do another spray monthly if it seems to be working. I do get a slight peppermint aroma in the cab with the air on, but its not bad at all. Much different than when someone recommended mothballs. I put two packs of mothballs under the hood and my cab smelled like great grandma's underwear drawer. I'd rather suffer the rodent damage than that.

Now you got me wondering what peppermint smells like. No thanks to mothball, can't un-remember that smell even if I want to.....

Yeah, the mothball thing was strong. The peppermint thing, wasn't as strong (that might depend on how much your use), but think....Christmas time. Candy canes and such.
