I contacted Harrop and they produce a E-locker for the Tundra, I drive a 2019 and I currently am pricing Arb or E-locker set ups. Curious to know who has either setup and the pros and cons for each system.

I have an ARB in mine and while I like its performance, I would rather have an E locker.

According to that. It doesn’t show it will work for 2nd and third gens. Unless all sequoias use the same rear end as ours(I don’t know). I would much rather have the e locker than the arb. Mine has failed twice and I still need to get my copper line that jumps over the ring gear(stupid design) fixed that keeps getting damaged by hitting the ring gear and a hole gets made and locker is unusable. If this works for a third gen I would buy it in a heartbeat over the arb just because of arbs bad design.

I have Harrop Elockers in front and rear in my 2018 Tundra. I have had ARB lockers in previous vehicles and they work fine... when they work. They (ARB) have a design flaw (in my opinion) with the O rings. I had to take my front locker out twice in 11 years and the rear out once in the same time frame for that freaking O ring.

The Elocker I love because you push a button and it works. The air locker gave me problems once in the high altitude mountains in Colorado. We wheeled all day and came to one obstacle up these rocks which was totally doable but my air compressor ran and ran and ran but never stopped. I had to use my winch for this one and only time to get up the rock. Later when I got back to my cabin the compressor worked just fine. Then it dawned on me, a compressor needs air to compress and it was so thin it was not able to complete the task. Aired up my tank each day before I left and I was fine.

    Just my .02

No I don’t have a link it is super hard if not impossible to find, Harrop says they make it though and they referred me to a authorized dealer near me, so I contacted them and they were confused to so they contacted harrop as well.

Thanks Oliver. Cruiser Bros is the best bet. I believe the 5.7 Tundras use the same as the Landcruiser 200 series. Check with Georg Esterer to be sure...does this sound right Tony? I agree with your post as well.

    Someone asked pros and cons.

Biggest most & obvious con- is price.
Some will say there isn't instant engagement or it can slip out...I've yet to experience any slip - engagement takes about a 1/4 axle turn so keep your eyes up on the trail, and anticipate and engage before you cross obstacle where a diff locker is needed. Some say strength of the carrier, I would agree ARB makes a stronger carrier, but I am not a fan of a pressurized system where a seal that fails can disrupt operation or air hose lines can be a weak link.

Pros: Simplicity of a 2 wire hook up to engage the magnetic ring. Quietly engages. No solenoids or vacuum lines or actuators.
(side note have ran a Harrop on my Tacoma for 5 years after having it re geared-no issues to report to date)

Why would anyone go with an air locker over an E-Locker? Is there any benefit at all?

Price? Only thing I can find about the Harrop says it’s only for up to 06 and is $1300. Arb is pretty well established even if some have issues. @azTony never responded with where he got his. This is what’s on that cruiser bro’s website.

The arb locker is great if it is installed correctly and when it works. Both times and two separate shops fixed my lockers and then the air line got nicked again for the third time which makes the locker not work at all. Quite frustrating. Never had the o ring issue, just the copper line inside the diff issue. I posted this video on the other locker thread on what was the solution to my issue. Wish someone could fabricate this for me. I would pay for it no problem. I tried looking for the one in the video but no luck and gave up. Still need to fix the line and the slow leak in front. A new shop is asking 900 for the front and 600 for the rear. I have all the parts ready to go too.

I reached out to Harrop who pointed me toward East Coast Gear Supply. Harrop did confirm they have a shipment on its way. I was told by ECGS its still 2-3 weeks out and the cost will be $1350 shipped. I don't know whats up with the cloak and daggers treatment around this but there it is.

Thanks. I’ve ordered from ECGS before for the needle bearing replacement and they were pretty good. $1350 isn’t too bad.

this is all good to know. i actually had no idea an e-locker for the tundra existed. the stock one in my old FJ was great and i'd prefer having another over the arb. my list just got one item longer and went up by $1350...

Harrop pointed me to Cruzer Brothers or something like that and quoted me 23 or 2400 for a rear.

I hope that the new price.

I suspect when the contract ends for their distribution from Ohio (1 year) the price will come down
