Lots of rain and storms in Pa. recently, but there was a break for a decent part of the day. My wife said, "lets go look at the GX 460 and RX 350 and compare them".
Didn't have to tell me twice. She drove the GX first and loved it. Then she drove the RX and like it just as much. The MSRP was within $1000 (GX was more) But... then the salesman said, take $3k Off the price if you like the GX. Of coarse they tried low balling me on the trade (2017 Escape with 52,500 miles) and offered $15K, so I told them KBB shows upwards of $20K for trade in value. We all Know its a number game, so they are saying they will take $4264 off the MSRP and give me $16K on trade. Total finance cost would be $44772 (out the door) minus what ever I put down. We told them it would be contingent on if it fit in the Garage, so they handed us the keys and told us to take it home (about an 45 min away) and check it out. good news... it Fits without any issues, Bad news.... Looks like I'll have a payment again. Insurance is about $325 more a year for the Lexus which isn't too bad I thought. Funny thing is, I entered the VIN into KBB for the Lexus, and I can trade it in for more than I could buy it for or sell it private party for even more.
What's everyone's thoughts on the GX and the 4.6? (besides the MPG) Any knownissues or problems? Does anyone have a contact at Lexus that can get the extended warranty cheaper like they can withToyota?
The RX was nice, especially with the newer tech, but I don't care for the Turbo 2.4 compared to the 4.6 V8 and we felt like the interior was not as spacious.

I have a GX with about 20,000 miles on it and never have a single issue. My tundra takes about about 2-3 weeks to get an appointment for service, I can get the Lexus in for service within a day or two. If it matters the GX is a much more capable off-road vehicle the the RX. We looked at the RX and loved them but the GX just stood out as a vehicle that can last forever with no issues.

Reminder the gx460 doesn’t have auto stop. If safety is a must than get the RX.

This is not a deal breaker. The GX tech is Very comparable to my Tundra which she likes.

Gx has no cross traffic. If she’s a good driver then get the GX. That auto braking could save a life. Gas problem is due to small tank also which doesn’t help low mpg and range.

I know with the 2024 redesign hitting the lots soon, they want to move the 2023's, but I was actually surprised they had this sitting on the lot, and below msrp. I found the invoice price $53476, so if that's what they paid for it, they wont be making much money. (Depending on what they sell the Escape for) Also, When I build the GX on Lexus website, the numbers don't add up. The included options and accessories add up to more than what they are selling it for. My wife is a little concerned about the gas mileage, but she understands that compared to her Escape, she will get a little more miles from the tank, but it will cost a little more to fill up.
She only drive about 5000 miles +/- each year, so I don't think the MPG is a deal breaker.

I appreciate all the info and assistance. We finalized the deal this afternoon and she’s sitting in the garage. Does anyone have a good phone Mount suggestion? It came with all 3 rows and the cargo all weather mats which will work for now. I may need to upgrade to Husky’s down the road. Can you connect 2 phones to the car? Any other tips or tricks or must haves? Thinking tinting the windows will be one of the first things we do.
Sorry for the crappy pictures. IMG_2750.jpg

I don’t know exactly what “invoice price” actually means but dealer cost is way less than that. I bought a car at invoice and they made plenty of money.

My wife drove and RX for 5 years and then moved up to the GX460 and loved the truck. Never had any issues with either Lexus. Now she's driving the LX and loves that vehicle also, great cars!

We moved to 460 from the 470, and really liked the ride quality and the smoothness. Our earlier 2005 was kind of slowish as compared to the 460. Hit a deer and got the Ironman Bumper.
Now finally moving to the Tundra as we need more space for camping stuff. Good to see these are still holding good resale value! Guess we will recoup some of the TRD Pro hit!
