Eotech 512 has battery contact failure issues. Get a CR123A version.

I read somewhere that EOTech revised the design and fixed it with the new models

They sell a battery compartment repair kit to fix it, but it doesn’t stop it from happening. The batteries are inline with the bore and inline with the recoil, there’s no way to eliminate it 100% hence the reason for the new design with the new orientation for the battery. If you don’t shoot a lot it likely won’t be an issue, but I just don’t like having a ticking time bomb. Murphy’s law says it will fail at the worst time.

Despite Eotech having a few inherent advantages like being the most parallax free optic you can buy, I still have a sour taste in my mouth from them knowingly putting optics with issues in warfighters hands. For that reason, I’ll always pick Aimpoint. Especially after seeing one go through a house fire and still being on when the melted crispy rifle was recovered from the rubble. For non duty rifles I use Holosun. They’ve been great too.

Finally found an adapter for the Canik to Holosun! 507c with the ACSS reticle which is super cool, there's a 10MOA circle so if you don't see the dot when you draw it's really easy to find it since you'll always see part of the big circle. Also the dot is actually a chevron which I think is cool since your point of impact is the end of a triangle instead of a big dot blocking what you're looking at.

Appreciate the feedback Ian! I'll definitely consider the xps2 now. Same features except the battery. I've run Holosun since 2016 and have 3 of them. Just sold my first one to my buddy looking for a budget red dot. 5 years later same battery!

Now you just gotta decide absolute co-witness vs lower 1/3, and red or green reticle! Decisions decisions lol! No personal experience with the green dot but I’ve heard they chew through batteries faster. I personally like lower 1/3 co-witness better as your head is a little higher off the stock for better situational awareness and the optic window isn’t quite as cluttered. The cheek weld you get with absolute co-witness does feel a little more natural if you grew up shooting hunting rifles though. All that matters is that you hit what you’re aiming at though so get whatever suits you!

    It's good
    and

You should focus on the target and keep your focus there; there is no need for you to change your focus to the sight. You also need to keep both eyes open. You should bring the rifle up to your cheek and not your head down to the rifle.

Good eye. Had for 20 years or so. Resides in my Tundra glovebox.

Took a day trip down to Glock Smryna a few years ago. They installed new night sights since the original set was running low on glow.

I have since installed a Wilson Combat barrel.

Easy decision for me. I'm in the minority and prefer absolute co witness especially with a fixed front sight. I had issues with the holosun mount on my main rifle so I bought a daniel defense t1 micro mount and problem solved. I set it up for absolute co witness and found I am actually faster with it. I totally understand the less strain on the neck and less front sight obstruction with the lower 1/3 mount but it doesn’t work for me as well.

    My September 1994 Gen 2 19 was a police trade-in.
The nights sights still have a faint glow to them.
It's in great shape, it sits in the safe to given to my daughter when the time comes.

    Nice Gen2s

My Gen2 17 purchased about the same time. According to GSSF the barrel date "SR" was test fired May 93. Dating Glocks... there's just something so wrong about that. haha

I know I've posted this before, but:
This is my beater May 1990 Gen 2 G17.
Bought it at a gun show for $300 several years ago with the sole purpose of keeping it in the truck.

Out of 15 Glocks I've owned, it is the most accurate.
    Go figure...

I picked up the Canik elite combat executive a few weeks ago, been looking at adding a holosun 507c to it, was not aware of ACSS reticle. Looks cool, how do you like, it so far

Installed it last night so haven't tried it yet, but from playing with it in the house it seems like a game changer to the point I want to use it for any pistol with a red dot. The ACSS reticle is a collaboration with Primary Arms if I understand correctly, and is who I bought it from. Mrgunsngear did a review of it on YouTube which is where I saw it and convinced me to get one. You need the mounting plate #2, if your Canik didn't come with that plate (my elite didn't) then Coventry Guns sells their own #2 plate, I couldn't find an actual Canik plate or any alternatives anywhere else.

    OK, you asked. :D

I bought one of the first LCPs.
Sent it back for the recall and all that.
Those who did the same know what this is.

    As far as mods:
When it was fairly new, I sent the slide and some parts to CCR and had them plated with their Ceraplate, it is now called CPII.
It is their Electroless Nickel / Boron Nitride plating.
CCR has done A LOT of great work for me over the years.
    Cummings Custom Refinishing (ccrrefinishing.com)

Put a CTC sight in it, but in retrospect I could have done without it.
I keep the CTC now becuase all my holsteres are made for it.
It now wears a Pachmayr grip glove.

For sure my most carried firearm...
Never a failure in I'd guess 1K rounds.
It's not that fun to shoot, but it sure does serve a purpose.

How true! I've got a safe full of carry guns that do little but hold down the safe while my LCP is out working for a living.
