Working on a Seekins Precision build at the moment but have had nothing but issues. 1st Lower receiver was trash, incomplete anodizing and a deformed magwell.
Warrantied the lower and got a brand new one with missing set screws. Started working on the upper and had to beat the handguard off with a wooden block.

I have 2 older Seekins Precision and they are absolute masterpieces. An older NX15 and a DMR. When comparing, it is clear they changed several mfg processes to cut cnc cycle time.
The new BCG no longer has a logo monogram and has a much rougher surface finish. I suspect they outsourced so their machines could mfg. their products.
Plan on calling customer service after labor day to see what options there are to resolve but I'm not gunna lie, pretty disappointed.

Nice classic rail less Sig with the old style takedown lever..
I don't care for railed Sigs.
Surprised to see an E2 grip and a short trigger on it..
Did you put those on or did it come that way?

I put the short trigger on it before the E2 grips because my hands are short. But once I put the E2 grips on, I soon switched back to the standard trigger not long after taking that photo. With the standard trigger and the E2 grips, it fits my hands purrfic!

Awesome, it is great to have a firearm fit your needs...

Only Sigs I have left, out of many owned, are my West German 1991 P228 and 1988 P226 with Carbon Folded Slides.

I keep them stock for nostalgic reasons.
Although I run Mec-Gar mags in them.
Well I say I run them, they've been in the safe for 6 years..
The zipperback and dovetailed mags are kept in the original boxes..

The P228 has original Sig night sights that still have a bit of glow to them..

Son will get this one when the time comes..

Daughter will get the P228 as a wedding present, whenever that happens.
First gun she ever shot when she was 14 was a rental P228 in 2008.
Found this one in great condition on GB 10 years ago.
First shot she ever took with a firearm.

Got the P226 built. Need to hunt down some mags for it, and run some test shots through it. Shit, the P220 still isn’t test fired (built it just as the ammo disappeared)

So many interesting things happened today, the last one I need some advice on. Firstly, had two suppressors we bought at the end of December show up! OSS .300 and a Silencerco 9mm (both Utah made :D )! The gun store also had some inventory that caught our eye, first of which was a Ruger PCC 9mm that I thought was pretty nifty and relatively cheap, then they had a Silencerco Maxim 9 which was also cheaper than I was expecting (and a gun I've been researching and wanting for awhile) so got that since you always need some item in NFA prison, and finally the wife got a little Ruger LCP 380 max which holds 10 rounds and is super tiny!

    PXL_20210907_021229751.jpg

    PXL_20210907_015255152.jpg

Now onto the weird shit, so we do a quick shooting session with the new toys. On like the 5th round through the Scorpion with the suppressor on it, a round blows up in the chamber. We probably have 2000rds through it, literally never a single issue ever, and then this happens. It appears the round didn't fully seat in the chamber, went off, and blew out the back? Has anyone ever heard of or had this happen and why? Is this an ammo issue or something else? The top of the magazine exploded too, I had to hammer it out of the receiver and then one handed with gloves cautiously shot it afterwards both unsuppressed and suppressed and it was totally fine... So I think it's coincidence it exploded right after it had a suppressor put on, but what do you guys think? The explosion blew out the sides and the front around the hand guard and scared my wife pretty well, she was fine besides her hand getting swollen and bruised. Just wondering any advice or things to do or check. The round was a 9mm, I'm thinking the bullet was cock eyed or something and made it not fully seat, and then it looks like the back of the case mushroomed into the shape of the feed ramp.

I'm glad everyone's ok. I would bet that's totally ammo related and had nothing to do with the suppressor. I would contact the ammo manufacturer and show the pics to them and see what they have to say. Make sure and have the box that the ammo came in in case they issue a recall and need the lot number.

Others probably know more than I, but that looks like it fired out of battery.
Suppressor will increase your back pressure, which increases bolt velocity. It can also send more fouling into the chamber, which can cause things to get sticky, but not usually after only 5 rounds.
Does the scorpion have a floating firing pin (like an AR), or is it captured/held safe from slam fires? How wet do you run the gun?

No idea, so did a quick search and this came up: https://www.reddit.com/r/czscorpion/comments/h0m887/defective_firing_pin_blocks_what_it_is_how_to/

Defective firing pin blocks are apparently a thing, and what they do is prevent out of battery misfires. If the firing pin block is fucky, then there's nothing stopping the firing pin poking forward in the event of a hammer strike before the bolt/extractor are fully seated forward. I have no idea if ours has this issue, but I'll tear it down right now and the fact you suggested this and there's been evidence of this issue says a lot.

A standard AR has a “floating” firing pin that is not held back by any sort of spring or block. It’s rare, but if not kept in good maintenance and run too dirty it’s possible for slam fires to happen from either the pin getting stuck forward by gunk or rattling forward from inertia (not really an issue unless you’ve got a heavy firing pin or extremely high bolt velocity).
A lot of other designs incorporate some sort of internal spring and block into the bolt to prevent that issue, but sometimes those designs can have issues too.
Just based on the look of the discharge, out of battery detonation is the only thing I can think of.

Well just pulled the bolt out and it seems to be functioning correctly. The firing pin block blocks the firing pin from moving forward until this little nub is depressed, and the firing pin has a spring keeping it back too. Everything is super clean, we fully stripped the scorpion not too long ago and the insides of everything look great with a thin coating of oil. So at a minimum, that defective part seems to be fine here...

My understanding is that full auto models of the scorpion, which the civilian scorpion is based on, has an extra disconnector that prevents these types of out of battery detonations because it wont fire til the bolt is fully home. The civilian model doesnt have it, and the rumor mill says its because the ATF wouldnt let them import them with this on the gun. If you look around, there are a lot of scorpion owners complaining about OOB detonations and whatever the cause really is, be it out of spec ammo, out of spec other parts, or a design flaw, its something that you hear about on the scorp more than most other firearms. Take that for whatever its worth.

How do you like those Piranha grips? I was thinking about getting a set for my 226. I’m jealous of the threaded barrels that we can’t have here in CA unless the cap is welded to the threads.. so dumb. ‍♂️

I really like them (hence having them on the P220 and P229). I had them on a previous P229 as well, and on a P239 that I owned briefly as well. It’s got good grip without being too sharp and aggressive.

The P320 I’m happy to keep with the AXG checkered grips, and the P226 has CoolHand checkered grips on it mostly for the cost savings vs the Hogue piranha ($60 vs $110). I may still swap it out to piranhas if I find a decent deal on a set - the CoolHand checkering is sharp and needs to be knocked down a little.

I’ve also got a Legion P229 that wears the original factory checkered grips and I like those a lot as well.

    I have a “Sig-ness” (sickness for Sigs)

Yeah, I’ve only had Sigs my whole life, except for a random Glock that hasn’t been out of the safe in years.
The Legion and the P320 are two I would definitely buy but of course they are off roster in CA, unless I can find one privately and pay twice the price.
I’m originally from Washington too and go visit often, and get to shoot all the good stuff like that. Last time I was up I shot my buddies 320 and I was putting everything on target and tight. Same guy has a p365 for his carry and I didn’t shoot that one well at all. I can always buy a Legion slide and Grips and have a faux one haha.
