I have a old 1906 Springfield that was my grandma's. Need to take it to get cleaned up. Do not know when the last time it was shot. It has been re-stocked with a Monte Carlo style wood stock.

Ive thought about restocking the mini.theres a couple good plastic options, and a couple glorious but probably terrible options, but a custom wood stock is what i should get. Might get a muzzlite for the s’s&g’s.

ANY magnum is loud. That's why I'm always wearing earpro when I shoot mine. ;):infantry:But even with full house magnum loads the K-frame snubbies are quite controllable. And accurate. Like hit a soda can at 80 yards accurate. As for recoil... a steel K-frame is quite pleasant, actually. It's the J-frame snubbies that are a handful to control. I usually run .38+P out of my 640 Pro.

    My_Precious.jpg

I thought it was only the model 15's and 19's that had issues with the forcing cone. I was under the impression that the 66, being of a later design, had better quality steels in it? I had to have my 19 sent to S&W as I eroded the forcing cone by shooting hot 125gr loads - they had to remove the barrel, turn it down (as there are no more Model 19 barrels available) and reinstall and reset the barrel-cylinder gap.

It wasn't the steel that caused it. It was the way the forcing cone was cut. The bottom of the forcing cone has a flat that allows clearance for the crane. This causes it to be rather thin and prone to cracking under continuous use of magnum loads. S&W fixed the issue when they re-released the model 66 back in 2015.

this one was given to me by my grandpa on my dads side. Same one that gave me the tundra. It has a feed ramp issue or something, ive only run 1 tube through it, and couldnt recreate the problem, but grandpa says it’ll get a round jammed crooked, and i can see some nicks on the feed ramp, but havent really done anything about it. Started to make a wall hanger for it, but got distracted.

Ah... I believe that the metallurgy is what caused the forcing cone erosion on hot loads. From what S&W told me, the shorter 125gr bullets allowed more of the exhaust gases to hit the cone as it exited the cylinder and entered the barrel, and it erodes the cone - it should be a sharp shoulder at the end of the barrel, not a beveled edge. There's a noticeable degradation of accuracy when it has a bevel worn into it. (I had called up S&W and asked them why my 4" 19 was so much less accurate than my 2.5" barreled 19.) Cost me $60 to learn NOT to use 125gr .357 JHPs in my 19...

I've got an old Remington Model 11 12GA that was my great grandfather's. I got my first (and only) turkey with it.
It needs some love, but still shoots great. My dad even found and gave me the original wood magazine plug for it.

I thought the same thing with my female until I took her. My lab is very timid. Cycle the shotgun and she goes nuts. Absolutely loves bird hunting and it's all natural. Still working on my boys though. They were way to ADD last year. Hoping for a better year this year with them
