The scratches and spots are hard to see in pics because of bad lighting and terrible photo skills. In person they are very evident and become more apparent depending on angle of vision. If you look carefully at where the molding seams are they all have a greenish tint to them too. In This day and age of everything plastic this is unacceptable. Truck has less than 5 thousand miles. What's my interior going to look like at 100k???? If Toyota won't fix it, that will have to be for someone else to find out. I know these are what my wife and I call "first world problems" but this does not sit well with me when every month I'm the one making the first world payment.

You all should post up photos and someone needs to take it to Toyota...

The plastic used for these interiors is complete S#?T!! Green spots are no longer just for door panels. I am now noticing them on the rear of my center console and my glove compartment door. Not only is the pigment screwed up but the plastic itself is too soft and is very easy to scuff or scratch. The scuffs and scratches then become a greenish blue eyesore. Due to the fact that the majority of the interior is made of this BS plastic I really don't see Toyota doing much about this.

I took my truck to the dealership today for its first service and to address the plastic issue. I ended up leaving it there so the Southeast Toyota rep. could look at it personally tomorrow. In the meantime the service manager filed a product report to Toyota. These product reports are what will help our case fellow Tundra owners, because this is what creates an awareness with Toyota that there is a problem. The service manager and I kicked around some ideas for a resolution but until the rep sees my truck and makes a decision it's all just talk. I will say that the service manager has acknowledged that my concerns are not unwarranted, and he allowed me to use his 4Runner until tomorrow when I can get my truck back. While waiting I was able to look at several Gen.3s and all black interiors are made with the same s#!ty plastic and the used models had the green spots and scuffs.

Nice score on the 4R temp rental!

Did you photograph / document the vin#'s of the ones you saw to support the case?

Almost turning into what could have been a X-Files episode. "Alien Green" Synopsis: Alien green spots from outer space infiltrating special plastic found only on certain 3rd Gen Tundras". ( plausible deniability coming from Toyota PR people) :laser::alien::alien::alien: Whistling

I looked this weekend and though I have many scuffs from shoes on the doors, I have no green spots. Weird.

So they are not contagious? Supplier must of had a bad batch it seems if not affecting all 15's. Maybe.

Mine is a 15. Maybe we can all post our manufactured date and see if it is something like a bad batch. I'll start. Mine was manufactured 11/14. No green spots as of yet.

Remember the early crankshaft problem with 07's? Affected only 20 or so trucks if I remember correctly. Bad metallurgy in a small batch. About 0.02% of all 07's built that year. Of course the big three ran with that to make it sound like Toyota messed up with their new truck even though it was the normally excellent supplier at fault like it is now with air bags. Corrective action was taken quickly then with the crank shafts but didn't matter.

I had plenty of those spots on all but one door panels. Took the truck to the dealer and was told that its a supplier issue when bolts/mounting points pull on the plastic. Toyota responded back: they won't be replacing panels because its nothing structural and just cosmetic. One of the mechanics in mean time have tried to use a heat gun on one of the spots and it worked. It completely disappeared!!!! But I agree - the plastic is supper crappy.

My 2014 with 15k miles has these same spots, told the dealer while getting other items looked at for warranty and they said they wouldn't replace the panels. They said it looks like germx got on the panels and ate away the black. I have green spota where the door panel meets the dash, so I'm not sure how germx would end up there. I'll bring it back up next oil change and try again, but it's nice to see I'm not the only one with this issue.

My 2011 didn't have these issues, kinda disappointing to think about what the truck will look like at 60k miles.

I'm normally on tundratalk, but saw this thread while Googling and figured I'd weigh in.

**Updating my earlier post** Saw my first green spot today. F*ck! Hasn't even had its first service done yet. And it is in a spot where a scuff wouldn't occur. Shit just turns green.

So the green spots continued onto the 15s. I have had one spot on my 14. Dealership replaced it no questions asked. My buddy has had 2 spots on his which the second one just showed up today. From reading everyone's post sounds like some dealerships are not warrenting these? Do you think Toyota will have a recall cause it's obviously across the board.

Not a recall. Recall's are reserved for safety related issues. They could (and should) issue a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin). So far I have only seen one spot but I'm sure that will change.
