I was going to start with 35 psi and go from there.

_DSC4351.jpg General ATX tires are mounted and been driving them around the two hours. They feel great! More plush then Stock Michelin LTX AT2. There is a cushion section built into the tire, and you do notice a difference. 1st thing I did was head south of town and get the truck up to 70 mph to see how loud they are. ATX is no louder than Stock Michelins in fact they are fairly quite for AT tire. They compliment the Pro suspension nicely. I live on a snowy road and these tires grip great. I was blasting around corners to break it loose and they held great. Once put into 4wd truck will be a beast in the snow. I will report back in a month to give a full report. Currently running 35 psi and it ride and grips nicely.

I just did the same thing. I went to 50psi. Don’t go there hahah. I put them back down to 40 once I got home and took it back out. Way better. Your truck looks like. What size did you end up going with?

I’ll lower them after work. I went same size. I’m debating getting icons and I’m glad the 33’s still look good with the lift. You have a sweet ride

Icon are sick wheels, I had a pair of method wheels but never really like them so I sold them. Icon wheels I would have never sold them. You running 17” tires. I think all Icon are 17” wheel? You gave to start over and buy a whole new set of ATX’s. So far I love this tire. Snowing like mad today, will see how ATX crush it in the snow.

Oh sorry I meant icon suspension lift. I think I am just going to paint OEM wheels black. But looking at your Pro the tires still fill up the wheel well. So I might start saving for the Stage 2 kit.

Same the tire is awesome. I deflated them back down to 35psi. Way better ride. Great call. Let me know how they do in the snow. We dont have too much left. The damn rain is killing all the fun.

The soft rubber compound General puts under the tread really does work. Feels better than my Michelin LTX's. With the tire and the combination of Icon suspension you will be loving life. We are supposed to get 4" today, will see what happens.

So I like the Grabbers more for a few reasons. To give a little backstory, I work at a tire shop and I have seen both these tires on a regular basis. Dont get me wrong, the KO2s are better in mud and snow, but unless you're driving up the side of Mount Everest they're both gonna perform the same. However with highway miles, the ko2s are louder, vibrate more, and dont last as long as the grabbers. One can expect about 5-10k more miles from the grabbers. Looks are pretty close but I give that win to to BFGs. Which brings me to the last point, price. A set of BFGs is gonna run you about 15% more than an identical set of grabbers. So say what you will. I dont think you can go wrong with either one it's really all preference and budget.

currently stock . leveling with my old lift level kit from previous 99 silverado .
Hi there i was looking at new tires for my 05 sierra as the new ko'2 for my previous 99 silverado have some clearance issues and require 17" rims . as i was debating about new tires i came across the General grabber . i was curios about reviews with this product . the good the bad if they are any different from the k02 tires. anything would help thanks in advance ...... have previously owned ko's and k02 tires loved them both altho the k0 tires get stiff as they are older . not a surprise .

I just recently switched out my KO2's for the Grabber ATX. So far I am impressed. The KO2's did me well but they only lasted about 50k kms. As they wore down, they also became pretty loud and stiff, I also really noticed the decrease in winter traction. The Grabbers ride better than I remember the KO2's (trying to remember as best I can when I first got them). Most definitely quieter and better snow traction. I still like the KO2's but I would go with the Grabbers when I have to replace. Tire Rack has them ranked #1 for all terrain tires according to their ongoing customer survey.

Hello All; I have run BFG KO's on my 2001 Ford F350.7.3, 4x4 dually (235.85.16 LT) with good results, until the sidewall blew out none of the dually's. BFG wouldn't warranty the tire, not happy. I am looking for another set of AT's for this rig. I have run General AT2 and now a set of ATx. My concern on the Ford 350 weight factor on the 2 ply sidewall of the General ATx, vs the 3 ply rating of the BFG KO2s. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks,Skip

Please let me correct some mistaken my post: The General At2's and the ATx tires (265.75.16 LT) are on a 2007 Totora Tacoma. I went thru 2 sets of the AT2's and recently went with the new ATx tires. So far so good... weight is not a factor with the Tacoma, but my concern is the strength of the General ATx (235.85.16). Any thoughts? Thanks

You running KO2s? I put a lot of miles on my truck so longevity is important, and 78 is impressive. Very quiet? Even after wear, how about the ride?

Loved my 315/70/17s Ko2s C rated... wore fine and rode better than my old 285/70/17 E rated bfgs - E rated empty was bone jarring hits..C rated with the softer sidewalls felt like butter.

On last tundra has some general grabbers. Like them. Would look at them this time but don't make tire in the size I'm going with. Go figure.

A little background, General Tire & Rubber Co. began in 1915 and it's parent company is Continental, BFG is Michelin. The ATX has the coveted 3 peak mountain snowflake rating as well as a tread warranty. As far as being a 2 ply sidewall I read on a 4runner forum where General claims their sidewall to be just as thick as competitors 3 ply side wall, one guy but a caliper to the two mentioned tires and got 8.5mm for the ATX and 9.5mm for the KO2 but those guys run P Load C tires. Pretty sure these will go on my wife's new 4runner soon but probably in LT Load E. If you have ever watched the show Expedition Overland they run General (sponsor) on 4runner, Tacoma, and LC. They have been through some rough conditions from the artic circle, to the southern tip of North America, and the southern tip of South America.

4.4 star out of 96 ratings

I didn't even consider the BFG just due to the fact it has no tread life warranty, shallower tread, no mountain snow flake and the price was considerably more than the General I ended up with. So far I only have about 2k miles on the General but they have no wear. I have played around with the pressure and they ride great. they are very quiet, track very well, balance out awesome and do unbelievable in the snow/ice. If I didn't get such a good deal on the General, I would have ended up with the Falken.

BFG does have the snowflake rating but recently came out with a KO2 that does not. In other words there are two versions of the same tire, DT model does not have the snowflake.

the main thing that made me decide against the BFG was the cost. I also just wanted to run something I haven't ran before. I did a lot of research and I do a lot of business with one of the biggest General tire dealers here in AZ and got a heck of a deal on the General. That just put the nail in the coffin when I was trying to decide. Although my final two choices were the Falken and the General. If they would have cost the same, I would have went with the Falken.

I really think I'm going ATX on my wife's new 4runner but probably in E load because of the sharp rocks and gravel on these Ozarks backroads. Considering the X3 for my new Tundra, might go back to the Ridge Grappler, or maybe Trail Grappler.

I drive gravel roads daily about 60miles. And the ATXs still look new. They are load range E. Definitely worth it. I almost went with the X3s but I don’t really have a use for mud tires other than looking way cool

Has anyone put the Grabber ATX on a first gen? I have a 2003 Tundra SR5 4x4 with stock suspension and stock 17" rims. I just purchased the Grabber ATXs in 265/70/17 and when they got here I put one of the tires next to my truck's front tire and the Grabbers seem like they might be too big. I was wondering if someone has the Grabbers in 265/70/17 on their first gen stock Tundra and had any issues with rubbing.
