FWIW, Pixel phones all come with a "swipeable" keyboard. I believe it's called "Gboard" and it's the default Pixel keyboard.

I went from Samsung to Nexus to Pixel... All of them have had a swipe type keyboard swipe system. In fact, I am trying this replying using Google keyboard swipe.

Thanks for the info, guys. One less barrier to dropping $480 on something that's already technically obsolete, I guess.

Tech is like cars x10: if you're always chasing the cutting edge you'll just be wasting money and you'll never be satisfied.

I used to be big on getting computer part upgrades and I was always looking for the "next best". Eventually I realized it just doesn't even matter past a point to have the absolute latest and greatest.

Same goes for phones. The pixel may not be the 'best on paper', but it's a very capable & snappy phone for the price point it's listed at. I really can't think of a better phone under $500 than it.

Yeah, fully agree. I'd be perfectly happy with keeping my 3 year old Samsung A5 if it didn't keep disconnecting from my home wifi every half hour or so. It just burns me that this is about the only decent phone on the market that isn't ludicrously expensive. Cell phones have essentially become a necessity these days and yet manufacturers keep driving the prices up and up and up. At what point will I have to ditch the phone and get a landline just to keep from going broke?

Well I went ahead and did it.
I got $400 credit for my trade in and had 50 bucks of VerizonUp device dollars. So $249.99 total for the phone, opted for the monthly payment plan added to my bill so $10 extra a month for the Pixel 5. It will be here on Tuesday.
