I live in Southern part of Maryland. i have about 5 vehicles. Two of them are Toyota. FJ crosier and 2005 Tundra 4x2 Vin 5TBRT34145S458785 . . Tundra is sick. it needs an engine replacement. i am shopping around. I am not an expert on Engines. The repair shop tells me mine has wiring harness with 5 outlets and the engine i got from the market through LKQ has 6 Harness out lets. The mechanic tells me this difference is because of Engine being California emissions legal ( they have extra sensors) and i need a federal emissions legal. BTW, if there is some one out there who knows about 4.7L engines, who might guide me what do i do with the extra 6th port that my harness has? the mechanic tells me the engine for 4x2 is different than 4x4. is that true? . the engine i have is for 4x4 vehicle, which is not suitable for 4x2 tundra? I i am not sure if he is bluffing or as naive as i am.

I will look forward to some inputs and guidance.

yep bank account is running low from it..
    Few things to point out.

1999 to 2003/4 are same engine.

2004 to 2006 is vvti engine Only difference is smog pumps and vvti.

As far I'm aware of the bottom is the same.

Now say you do have a 4x4 engine / harness. If there is nothing wrong with the harness in the truck now all you have to do, is do a intake swap if my memory is correct. I'm out of town not near laptop access for alldata to confirm.

@LOTSOFTOYS he has access to the factory electrical diagram since I'm out of town on business.

Dear All. Thanks for everyone's advice and welcome message. i believe this forum will educate me on the maintenance of vehicles. Regarding the issue of wiring i had, is resolved now. I found out from various sources that engine used in 2x4 and 4x4 tundra differ in the harness. therefore, i found another engine which belonged to a 4x2 vehicle with similar wiring. The vehicle is being repaired. I will post the photos and the price i paid to recover the vehicle after it is done successfully. Thanks once again for your valuable time. Basically i buy heavy machinery of every type. excavators, wheel loaders, tractors, vehicles, graders, rollers, cranes etc.
