goldilocks Tires?

    Another tall skinny 285/75R18 user here. I’m running Duratracs, which people seem to either love or hate. I just spent a week driving through frozen middle TN with 4” of snow on top of 2” of ice. Duratracs are 3-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) rated in a 285mm width, and they absolutely crushed all this mess. I had zero slippage anywhere.

    I too wanted ground clearance for off-roading. DTs in 285/75R18 are over a half inch taller at 35.1” than your average 35 (most measure 34.5”). They’re a bit louder and a bit slower when I get on the skinny pedal since they weigh 65lbs but it’s negligible for me on both counts.

    They fit fine with a 2” lift up front.

    If I didn’t need the clearance, but wanted off-road ability and legit snow rating, I’d do these same tires in 275/70R18.
