Go Rhino RB20

I think some guys are posting about the originals. He is talking about the new slim line style. The originals I sent back because they sat to close to the truck. The slim lines should have adjustments to move them closer than the pic.

 

I ordered late December 2020 and received shipment in January. I think they had a great Christmas sale so the shipment was slightly delayed.

 

You would think, but they do not.

 

Does the slim line still offer door ding protection?

 

I feel sorry for anyone swinging a door too close to my truck. They will definitely hit the RB20s, rather than my door.

 

any updates on the door ding test on the slims as well as the brackets/fitment? Im itching to get the Slims but now at how low they hang

 

Same here. I was waiting for the slims to release, but after seeing the fitment I'm about to order a set of the originals. I'm thinking Go Rhino may eventually change them as they definitely don't fit "high and tight" as they are described on the website. But I don't want to wait forever so I'm going with the originals.

 

Not sure on the door ding protection. I don't ever park anywhere near anyone in a parking lot, so I don't know that I'll ever test that actually.

I've been in constant communication with Go Rhino since I installed the slim RB20 boards and discovered the terrible fitment, and their R&D team is working on "something", I've been told. Not sure if it's a solution, new brackets, etc., or just a polite way to tell me to go pound sand. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Any updates? I was about to order the originals this morning, then noticed there was now a "slim" model. About ordered those before finding this thread and having second thoughts. I did notice the bracket set (at least now) has a different model number than the ones for the originals. I emailed Go Rhino to see if the fit has been remedied, but haven't heard back.

 

Installed mines last night and did a quick door ding test, it probably will not save u from door dings if the vehicle next to u have the same height or if the bottom of their door clears the steps.

 

Might just be the lighting but the tires look super bald on the red truck

 

Not sure if I posted here before. I have the bedliner coated slimlines on mine:


Noticeable in this one is the white area peeking through above the running board. I had purchased hoping to cover that area specifically as it looked unfinished.



So last week I hit the area with some bedliner spray and I think it looks 100 times better. Also a quick spray over the silver GoRhino tag so it's not so noticeable:

 

Well, just heard back from Go Rhino. Basically said both the originals and slims have a gap, so doesn't sound like there are any plans to have them fit closer to the body.

 

These pics were before I sprayed the area between the running board and the body, that crimp/pinch weld I guess it's called:

 

I installed the originals a few weeks ago and they are a good tight fit, but still some gap. Not completely flush to the body like I'd hoped. However, these slim pics look much different than the original slim pics from earlier in this post. Definitely looks like they've changed the brackets for the better.

 

There was some adjustment as well. I worked to get them as tight to the body as I could but you certainly could let them out a bit if you prefer.

 

Removed factory installed steps and installed RB20’s today! Look great and will hopefully protect from people that don’t care about hitting your truck. Wanted sliders but use my 4runner for trails so couldn’t justify the cost for my truck. Overall happy!

Love mine I have had them a few months no issues. And that lunar rock above sick rig!!

 

I paid extra for powder coated RB20's. I am disappointed that the finish has already chipped away where my foot lands during enter and exit. I have less than 10,000km (6,000mi) since I installed them. I haven't contacted Go Rhino yet, but I'm not optimistic that they will offer any support.

 

Pretty sure they have a 5yr warranty on the finish and my understanding is that they are good about sending a replacement. Definitely reach out to them.

 

Had a set on my 2017 with the bed liner finish. Had a problem with the driverside and they sent out a new one and let me keep the original.

Looks great! I have the same exact truck with the same drop steps and just switched them out for the RB20s as well! From the looks of it I'm guessing you're in the Southeast as well?
