It's completely separate from the engine cooling system.

Not an idiot, just tired I'm guessing ;)

Yes, you'll need to fill the IC system with the coolant Whipple recommends.

    It's been a long 3 days.

I filled the system and when I cycled the pump the level didn't change.

I'm wondering if I'm having a hard time purging the air because I'm on an incline.

How bad of an idea is to turn on the engine and back it onto the street?
I haven't flashed the tune yet.

Still having tuning issues with the truck. Put the computer on it and flash it - shows 10.8 - 11.2 on a pull. Disconnect the computer to drive home and I get on it and it is 11.5 - 13. Gets higher as the rpms go up. Why would it not hold a tune??

    Thanks for any ideas...

You can as long as you don't get into boost and double check connections. Especially look at fuel injectors etc.

Nose up should help purging. The thermostat doesn’t open to circulate fluid until it warms up anyways. Fill as best you can, squeeze the radiator hoses to try and burp some air, then fire it up for a second.

It will run on the stock tune; I had to drive it home from the dealership like that and it was fine. I wouldn’t drive around like that on purpose, but it made it 6 or 7 miles of old-man cruising in no traffic.

Fuel pressure good. Hard to see if you don't have a remote gauge setup. Fuel line in tank?

Gotcha. I might try backing it out of the driveway to see.

The ic lines feel soft with the pump running.

7.5 hours in on @sbxx312 truck in my dad's shop

    PXL_20250911_224637328.jpg

Magnuson conveniently missed the one rare long ass bolt for the idler bracket, so got to spend an hour troubleshooting and fabricating a bolt for that. Also RCI skids are a complete bitch to remove and install

Hoping I would have more done today, hopefully I can get the gas tank, wideband, and engine bay done tomorrow so Saturday can just focus on tuning and setting up the gauges inside the truck.

In hpt documents the license.dat file may be deleted. Sometimes it prevents a write.

Fuel pressure varying or air leak could cause that

The worst that happens is it throws a lean or rich code. At low throttle the truck should be totally fine to drive. Fuel trims might work over time but nothing catastrophic should happen.

That stinks I was missing that bolt took all day to find one. Bought like 6 different ones.

I would not be worried at all about the level of the intercooler system. It is completely stand alone from the blower and engine. Even if there was no coolant at all you would be fine, especially if you're not in boost. I would fill it up as much as possible then go drive around and don't think about it, then just check the fluid level every day and top it off until it starts holding steady. If there's no fluid at all, the worst that happens is the intercooler pump runs dry which I'm sure isn't ideal, but since it's at the bottom that shouldn't really happen ever.

    Too many mods to come

This right here. You’ll need to fill it after driving it around a few times.

Super small hardware store near here too, dad checked and absolutely zero options. Ended up taking the factory bolt and TIG welding an extension onto it and then slotting the head to use a flat head screw driver  a little jank but either that or spend 2 hours to go to the big city and come back, and it took enough torque, and isn't structural so

Fuckers gave me three of the huge bolts though

Coincidence? The truck isn't actively talking to the laptop so I don't think anything should change regardless of the laptop. I would datalog it more and see if you can make it happen with the laptop hooked up. This isn't a tune I sent you is it? I feel like we talked about tuning at some point, but that goes with everyone in this thread so I forget if I should have special insight into how anything is acting o_O

I backed it out of the driveway and got it flat on the street. The IC reservoir dropped a little but not much. Hoses are soft for the ic.

Try a Lan cable from router to computer if your wifi connection is low. Sometimes happens.

Hoses will always be soft, it's not a high pressure system. Don't sweat the intercooler system, I think it's fine.
