Kinda partial to the pillar mount gauges.
But damn they're proud of the mount!!

    Dammit!!
    More options!!
You can get the pillar mount with one to three gauge mounts!!
    Kinda leaning towards the single.
    Or maybe the double.
Just wondering if I really need more gauges other than the Boost Numbers.

Hows the Air Fuel gauge connected?
I guess the better question would be where does it connect?

He’s not saying the mileage is causing the lag - it’s the throttle mapping associated with the model year.

~2014 they changed throttle mapping significantly for a less aggressive and jumpy throttle. My ‘13 always felt peppier, snappier off the line, like it had and extra 60 or 70 horse compared to my ‘21. Midrange power feels dull in the ‘21. But it’s the exact same truck down to the cab and bed configuration. In fact, they ‘21 is a little lighter. You have to floor it in the ‘21 or fell like it’s making real power.

They build your tune off of the factory file, which means your throttle map can remain intact. Custom tuners like @JustDSM and @snivilous can change the throttle feel and shifting for a more lively response.

Small changes to that map can make big differences in driveability and feel. I’ve tinkered with my Whippled ‘13 to the point that it feels jumpy and excitable, making it difficult to manage and modulate in traffic. Then I ran it down to the point that the truck felt labored even up in to the midrange - like it wasn’t making power. Then I found the sweet spot in the middle where it jumps forward when I feed it, but behaves like stock when I drive like an old man.

I would suggest- as others have - that you look there first. On a second note, I did have a faulty bypass actuator out of the gate, but it have other symptoms and still ran like a beat when you fed it the pedal.

There's a map sensor, which I mounted to the left of the brake booster. Then ran the wires into the cab.
The vacuum line is "T'd" into the line to the fuel pressure regulator for boost reference.

I use the innovative scg-1 which is air fuel and boost. Overkill for you since it can also do boost control but still a good all in one gauge.

    Nice!!
The Magnuson did come with an RTD/TDN module for remote tuning.
Going to have to learn myself the ins and outs of the device.
    Any info would be appreciated.
Back in the TRD SCer days there was nothing like this new fancy stuff.
You got it tuned and that was it!!

Bosch 4.9 O2 sensor welded to the exhaust downpipe.

Mine are Innovate ECB & ECF-1. B for boost & F for fuel

So i'm going to have to weld a sensor port/mount to the downpipe?
I do have that ability here in the garage.

    So in conclusion...
Boost and air fuel are going to be my main info...
Is there a need for the three gauge mount option?

You can data log with it and get remote tuned. But you'll need a hpt mpvi3 to do your own tuning.

I went 10 years with just the AEM afr/boost gauge. I have a fuel pressure gauge for the Walbro 450 in case there are issues.

Did you happen to do the SAIS filter mod on the Tacoma? On it that pump is located on the top of the engine, and the Taco definitely has more whine noise when that mod is done.

Give @JustDSM at OTT a call, that alone will wake the truck up a lot and make it run safer, and get rid of the lackadaisical throttle mapping, and he'll flash it for you or send you the file to use with the RTD device.

    Thanks Sniv!

Send an email into info@overlandtailor.com and let John know you're from Tundras.com and need a tune for your Maggy setup that uses a RTD. He'll get you sorted with a complete set of files for your truck.

Just did a few runs and she really seems to boogy. Pulls strong! I may be able to add 1 or 2 degrees of timing in some areas. I'm spraying full on at 7psi with the direct port. No signs of quenching the larger gapped plugs with the direct port combined with the throttle body nozzle for the rotor cooling. MAF is maxing out right at 6000rpms with 84.5% on the 750cc injector duty cycle. Will mess with fuel trims once timing and PE are dialed in.
I'm going to enlarge the inlet opening on the fender. I cracked my air filter box and was able to get about 14.4psi. Make a mold to fiberglass it in place on one end to still have flex. And hood vent...eventually.

Those IDCs are promising! Such a cool journey you're on. Appreciate you and @snivilous working through it in the name of science.

Oh! And it's a new day with new discussions. You might want to ping Jesse (again?) and mention your MAF limitations.

I had it on but was having issues. He gave a few pointers to help but returned it. I'll check it out again as i solved the misfire issue from back then. I'm dumping a little extra fuel at 5600rpm on up with PE. Afr's are showing its doing its job. Kinda backwards but I'm not at that rpm too often, maybe a little bit.

Thanks @snivilous for pointing out my MAF and others were in absolute load instead of air load. Will do some log runs later to see if it changes the MAF..IDC/ KCL. etc before changing it up.
