I just paid Austin @ Phoenix Engine specialists a 2300 deposit, he is sending someone to pick up the original motor.

He's pretty adamant about not SCing the stock internals. What pistons & rods are you guys using?

Yup, that is what I learned with the BMW, the question is what parts do I need? Where is the best price, etc.

    Well SHIT!!!
I guess I should have expected this...
No getting on it for the first 400 miles!!!
And the Wife Hates the New Exhaust so it's perfect!!!
Now I have some parts to get rid of.
TRD Exhaust and some other odds and ins...
Makes me want to pull a Ferris Bueller's Day Off except in reverse.
I want to add miles rather than take em off.

They know the parts needed. I listed that from my email with them. You just tell them the goal and usecase and they'll spec Pistons and rods needed etc.

    Break in period.
Have to bring it back in two weeks or 400 miles to get the break in oil changed.
I did get on it a little but nowhere near full throttle.
It would take me months to put 400 miles on it since I retired.
Told the Wife I was gonna go out I-10 for 200 miles and drive back.
That would put me right about San Antonio before turning around.
Could knock it out in one day...With the expensive gas.

Break-in oil for what, in the supercharger? It's not a rebuilt engine... That's BS, send it!

I'm just going with what the guy told me.
Not worth the risk of F'ing something up and with computers these days they'd be able to go back and check.
I'm gonna error on the side of caution.

Error on the side of calling him and asking WTF he's talking about. Sounds like you're about to waste your time and then spend more money for nothing. This isn't rocket science and no one on this forum has any idea why they would tell you that, that would be weird to me. Hell I'd call Magnuson if nothing else.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    When mine was installed.

the only instruction was to "keep fuel in the tank".

    more than 1/4 tank.

    it's a S/C.
    There is no more caution.
you are now permanently excluded from the caution crowd.

it doesn't say that in the maggy manual or whipple.. Being a former dealer for both I can confirm break-in oil and mileage is false

Did a quick search and found....
While it's not absolutely necessary to do a Break in period with the Magnuson they say it cant hurt to take it easy the first few hundred miles so the parts can seat properly.
Sounds reasonable,a Hell of a lot more reasonable than 400 miles.

Whatever this forum told me to do
I am not qualified to give a formal AFR Gauge dissertation, however:

This is the only gauge I watch when I get into boost.

it's the only way to monitor the weak point of these motors - ring gap (heat).

you want Sub 11 AFR when in boost. mine goes to 10.2

others, more knowledgeable, will come along and expound on this

now you know your homework assignment.

Cant imagine they'd install a overly hot tune.
The place has a great reputation and the lots full of half million dollar cars so I have to think they know what they're doing.
I'm sure they're just covering their Ass as best they can.
