That should be the smaller permanent magnet type. The -84 suffix = remanufactured.

Reman was all I could find for my application from any dealer. I had the same issue when I got the alternator in December.

Yes, unfortunately Toyota has trended towards stocking less and less of the new stuff, especially for out of production vehicles, and opting to supply remans.

S/C gets delivered Tuesday! can't wait to have it back on the truck. Another positive, my warranty camburg knuckles showed up today. so truck should be back on the ground out of hover mode ready for the s/c to go back in.

I spoke to someone there in December, unfortunately it was after I was already neck deep in the junk yard motor.

Maybe with the heads from this one & the good bottom end in the 143k motor they'll make me a deal. :p

Must be a hole in the block, it's losing oil. The mechanic said it was above the starter, as there is oil on it.

They said they didn't see anything but the starter is oily. Yes, connector & starter replaced, motor now runs, but oil is coming out & it sounds like marbles in a dryer at idle

So, I have a good block with a bad valve in a head & 2 good heads with a bad bottom end. Sucks the good block isn't in the truck :( Lol?

Not sure what is next, wife is dealing with radiation after a double mastectomy, cash has been pouring out on both cars, the house & pool, I'm thinking the BMW which is finally dialed needs to go to pay for the Sequoia seeing as it's worth virtually nothing as it sits.

Seems like it's more like I'm cursed.

I don't see any oil, does Toyota have a warranty on these? It's not more than 7 months old.

Found the receipt, 12/24/24 was the date the order was placed.

Maybe not cursed just bad run of things. I'll be praying for your wife's full recovery and a economical outcome for your rig. Stay in a positive frame of mind.

    I'm really, really sorry @e30cabrio

It's the gamble of a used motor. Safe to assume it is out of any possible warranty it came with? Hindsight suggests it's been hurt for a minute,. especially looking back to when you were getting misfire codes a month or two back.

The phoenix shop appears to build reman stock blocks all day for a reasonable price with a minimal core charge, though I suspect you want a built option for what appears to also be a reasonable price. XAT is backlogged at the moment (~5 months and counting) so I can't recommend them for you.

Hey, I watched this like yesterday, or the day before, very detailed. Seems like a bit of work, but really isn't too bad. I removed and reinstalled my Tacoma engine by myself, but not in Arizona temps...

I pulled my engine when it blew. Biggest hurdle was putting it in without hitting the windshield. Pulled my front wheels and set it on blocks to lower as much as possible. Disconnect ac compressor as it comes up to the rad support and your done.
Don't mind the extra block pieces sitting in the bell housing...

Seems like the old starter wasn't a reman, no 84 suffix.

So was the engine fucked or did it blow due to coolant in the cylinders?

Can you put an air conditioner in garage? Or does the door need to be open for an engine swap?

I think the motor was fucked from day 1, the Blackstone report on the first oil was not good.

There was barely room for the BMW which is almost 1/2 the size, no way to pull a motor with the door closed, no room to get to the front of the truck with it closed without a lift, tool cart & 2 engine stands behind the truck, they are behind the BMW right now.

This just happened, who wants to reap the rewards of my misfortune??? :/

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/07-...-bbk-full-kit-bith-calipers-reman-new.159946/

No room for a Sequoia motor swap...
The tree barely fit with nothing behind it, bumper touching the cabinet.

Bummer!! I feel your pain, when I got 5.29's put in, truck was supposed to be done Friday. It wasn't. Shop was closed Saturday Sunday and then Monday for July 4th. Essentially an extra 4 days no truck. Worst Feeling lol worth the wait for the wait for the supercharger tho!

Well my tvs1900 snout bearings are here and my thermal blanket finally is next town over at the ups hub. Only a 12 day delay. Will start on Monday for the SC pull and snout rebuild.
