I’ve noticed reverse being more aggressive but drive not so much.

Seems like swapping over to a traditional synthetic trans fluid like Valvoline Maxlife extended protection or similar over the Toyota WS fluid would be a step in the right direction to prevent premature clutch slippage and aid in the clutches holding power regardless of if you have the upgraded valve body or not.

Would that be a fair assumption?

    Many on the way.
Valvoline Maxlife is not a synthetic, it uses the same high grade group III base oils as the WS fluids and their clones.

The best thing you can do for the longevity of your 8 Spd, which is a much stouter and more modern transmission when compared to the 6 spd, is to swap some 3.90 or even 4.30 gears into your differentials.

Thanks @Jowett kinda knew that was the inevitable an$wer. I was referring to the extended protection which I believe is full synthetic and not a blend.

edit: I see I’m an idiot none of those are a dex type

I would have kept it in if I didn't have that hang shift from 3-4. I believe it was from a bad S3 solenoid and not letting it warm up. Shifted fine when temp reached 100 deg or so . I should have put it back in after swapping out that solenoid to see how it ran. Bad trouble shooting on my part. I saw one guy is running it but he only posted 4 times.

Update: Toyota intake accelerator installed.. Easy 5 minute upgrade..
Only drove around the block, but there's a definite air sucking sound that wasn't there before under acceleration...
Not a game changer by any means, I'm sure I won't hardly notice it after a while..
Not a bad upgrade for $20 if it actually does anything.. But with TOYOTA I'm sure the R&D wasn't wasted.

So went for a test drive with the WAT extreme valvebody and gotta say it’s quite underwhelming. The only extreme part of it is when you put it into reverse. Hopefully it’s actually adding more clamping force on the clutches because the shifts weren’t any “faster”.

I wouldn’t expect quicker shifts, just more clamping capability.

I was expecting a more drastic difference as well after the first drive. With more seat time I think you will start to appreciate the differences. The 1-2 and 3-4 are definitely more firm. 2-3 like @ssmokedz said isn't as aggressive for whatever reason. It feels a bit snappier to me in general. Did you try any WOT shifts? Like I said before though, as long as it’s helping hold the power over the stock one I prefer not to suffer with mule kick shifts.

Not the best video and only took off in second just shy of wot. Didn't want to lose traction. IPT valve body shifting. I do get a slight nudge when it shifts 1-3 but hardly noticeable.

Drilled and tapped a hole in my lower supercharger manifold for a Haltech air temp sensor next to the Harrop sensor's location. Also, swapped back to the GM snout and waiting for the sealant to setup I need to find a new location for my SC coolant pump, then I'll be rerouting coolant hoses for the interchiller and adjusting vacuum lines. I should be back up and running this evening, can't wait to have my power back.

Awesome! So by cylinder 8 is a good spot for an IAT sensor? Yours is between 6-8. Will be adding one once I get all set to fix some items.

Glad I wasn’t the only one with that feeling. The 1-2 and 2-3 are more noticeable but the rest are factory. They are quicker in my opinion but not by much. I’m assuming that what I’m feeling is a more pronounced torque management so I want to tweak some of that in the tune.

Runner for Cyl 6, I figured it was since the Harrop sensor was in the same area. The manifold has bosses for machining additional injector bungs, so I could have picked any cylinder, probably would have been good on the opposite side to see if there are any differences between them. Picture is out of focus, but the hole on the left is the Haltech sensor and the one of the right is the Harrop sensor. This is also a good shot of where the spacers were contacting the lower manifold.
