The nice thing about gears is if they are going to go out, it’s going to be early. Not a year from now.

Going with the straight mid pipes I went from 13.8 to 12.4 psi. Seems to have a bit more pep but it could be the extra growl from the free flow exhaust.

No. It's the OG dirty deeds dual 3 inch exhaust. Had it since 2012. But the mid pipes have gone through many cats to none.

I was reading some slightly older comments/discussion on the boosted page. I thought this was an interesting different opinion on what causes a boosted 3UR to have busted ring issues. Just thought it was relevant to the recent cat converter and AFR discussions so figured I’d share. Maybe the real boosted longevity issue for the 3UR is exhaust manifold/cat restriction causing high cylinder temps, and not the ring gaps themselves? Gotta say, the ring gaps being similar to the new V35a-fts is interesting despite being NA vs built for boost.

I was running JBA LT's, 200 cell high flow cats, dual 3 inch exhaust( not stock). Aeromotive 340lph pump when mine went. AFR's were usually 10.8-11.4 at wot. So most likely leaned out because of supply line size and BD tune?
I've always geared towards the 10.5 from Matt's post that I saw in the past.
It is interesting and some food for thought.

It’s probably just more overthinking of the issue. It would appear to me that some will go, and some won’t. I’ve seen at least one blow that had all of the PS fuel mods and tuning as well. It’s probably largely a crapshoot if you’re an unlucky one or not, and more dependent on driving style and abuse.

I wasn't sure who was stating what but it's a good discussion. Aside from that guy busting a rod in his N/A tundra we haven't had engine failures like years past. The tuning has come a long way...as I literally knock on wood! Haha

With going catless I did lean up my PE on my 3rd run today. I did keep it in 10.5-11 from 4400-6000rpm.

Several people, Keith being one, told me that if the cats come apart and restrict the exhaust flow, it will likely kill the engine. Made sense to me. I removed mine. Of course I only use my truck off-road.:)

Well what about using a turbo? Aren’t the pre-turbine exhaust pressures 1.5x to 2x the boost pressure? It’s kind of an exhaust restriction by design.

Cats coming apart can completely stop flow depending on how they get oriented when it comes apart.

Continuing the crank no start. Tossed in a new Odyssey just to cover any random voltage issues. Pulled 2 plugs this morning and they’re soaked in fuel and gunk so this could definitely be a contributing factor. More to come.

With the 8arfts coils have you thought of opening the gap. Even just going back to .028 to .032? When I get the new injectors I'll be opening them up @Jowett asked if we tried opening for the stronger spark.
I saw my five-o's were pretty rich on start up @Wynnded had same issue but from extended starts.
Good luck trouble shooting I'm sure your covering all the bases.

I had to go to 32 or so to get rid of my misfire with the 8ARFTS.

What else may cause no spark. We have new fuses and relays, new crank sensor. Do we have an ignition diagram laying around?

Was the battery disconnected for a while? I've only heard it happen once. The ecu/immobilizer needed to be reset. Is key recognized?

It might help if you had the proper dwell time configured for the coils.

I can port the changes into a file for you in the background if you want to send me a stock file for your truck.

Definitely just left a BMW I8 driver feeling like his 150k got him something wholly inadequate to fend off pickup trucks with pappy caps on the highway.
Who would buy one of those? Pretty unspectacular for the coin.
