Update: New oem gas cap and purge valve did not solve the P0441 code. I think it’s the (new to me) junkyard ECU that’s the issue so just gonna roll with it (and swap in another ecu later), if there was a leak/actual issue there would be other codes.

Where did you get the trash panda? I thought they frequented Ford garages more than yours...?

Good hard working family people for sure. If I need a day trash panda I go down to my local Napa parking lot and honk near the dumpster and they’ll get in the back (honk once for SAE twice for Metric).

Thanks for the pro tip! If my horn doesn't work, can I just make trash panda noises? Are they similar to fox noises??

    I like these temps, I'm from N.Y. over 20 it's fine for me. It's summer I hate.

It is going back, I am demanding a loaner I can bring the old motor home in & pick up the BMW motor Friday if it is not done by then & leaving it until it is 100%. I paid full market for the job & they exceeded the promised delivery by over a week & it's not done at week 6 (promised under 3 weeks to complete)

    Also, from Sniv:

There's something majorly fucked somewhere. I don't know what that shop did, but it's like the harness or something got obliterated during the install. Bank 1 isn't reading any AFR whatsoever, codes for Bank 1 O2 sensor, random misfires, 1 and 3 misfire, MAF off, bank 2 O2 sensor, throttle pedal position voltage, it just goes on and on.

There is a root cause somewhere, I'm not sure what it is, but somewhere something is causing all of this. Replacing the O2 sensors, the throttle pedal, whatever is not going to fix it. It's not a coincidence half the systems are throwing faults. Either the ECM or the harness is messed up, or something isn't grounded or receiving power correctly. You said you have the old ECM, I would try putting that in and see if it fixes everything. If that doesn't do it I'd start checking continuity between the ECM and the MAF for example and see if you can find what's wrong. I'd also search all the grounds and battery connections and see if anything is off.

Just drove it, good news, I have throttle,(43 degrees out) it drops down gears as it should, feels better. Maybe it needs drive cycles to get past the mess? I sent Sniv a short new log. Also, good news, the 1mm smaller pulley jumps to higher boost fast, I have not gone more than 1/2 pedal & have seen 9.6lbs.

Doubtful, I'm more inclined to believe there is a wiring issue, like Sniv said, either the wiring was damaged during removal/installation or they forgot to ground something. Both cylinder heads have grounds to their respective inner fender and the block is ground to the chassis down below the AC compressor. There are also several grounds on the wiring harness.

I'm hopeful to see you get through this, but these issues do not self-heal. Sounds to e like you have an intermittent short to ground somewhere in the engine control harness. I can;t imagine it is all gone with no find or intervention...

"Rebooted" several times, feels better each start, after clearing I have the permanent codes, then several more come back.

I'm going to drive and get a log in a bit and decide what to do next. The passenger head ground is there, don't see one on the driver side. It's easy to add one.

That is what I was thinking when he first got it back. A decent shop would of verified grounds and checked continuity on the harness plugs back to ecu. It's not difficult just takes a little bit of time.

Didn't remember I never installed the new coils.

Just swapped cyl 1 out seems like less misfire, I'll send Sniv a log.

Soooooo, I had to bring them a plug because they said one was stuck. I asked if they gapped it (I dropped it off, said it needs between .22-.24. They said no, you didn't say anything about that. I said I promise I did, that got Ok, you said it needed a smaller gap but not what it was.

I just said which is it? They said 4, I pulled it, it was about .28, I made it .22, replaced another coil, and the truck feels much better. I need to get another log we'll see what happens.

Little by little, maybe I'm getting past this.

I don't think .028 gap would cause misfires. Usually above .032 would cause misfires under load. When I tested plug gaps I went down to .021 and ran well went back to .026. I think the best performance is around .026-.028 gapping. If using the Lexus 8ar-fts coils should be good at .032-.034 if they gave som extra charge oomph.

I thought I read with the Lexus coils 22-24 so I did as close to 22 as I could. It feels better now but I only drove a few blocks, work is crazy today.

I need to get another log, I got rid of most of the codes but 0031 keeps coming back.

The greater the coil charge the more you can increase the gap without having a misfire. Smaller gaps help prevent blow out but sacrifice performance. We shouldn't worry about blow out as we're not pushing 25 psi, yet.:p
Try following bank 1 O2 for any cut wires, inspect O2 plug for the p0031.
Edit**since running the 8ar-fts coils @Jowett asked to try increasing the gap to see how it performs. I still need to try it.

"That's a tight gap" is going to be my most favorite saying going forward.

I know you guys are running some boost, but Jesse ended up leaving mine at 30/32 and it was running great up to 9psi. Even XAT recommended running DENSO/NGK factory gap (30/32) for their built long block. Were you all actually having blow out or just being proactive?
