Flex rapidly locks and unlocks the TC hundred times a second until it locks. Supposed to save mpg's. In early tundra's/camry's it caused overheating along with weak damper springs. For me I just removed it from the equation.
**it's only active 3rd-5th up to 15% tps.

Bit the bullet, ordered a new TC from Toyota. I'd be pissed if the 143k TC failed after this.

Only reason it’s colored differently is so that when you’re installing the bolts, and you make it all the way around, and reach the black one again, so that you know you torqued all of em. It’s just a dummy mechanism.

LOL I bricked my ecu again tuning today. I parked in front of my garage so trapped my FJ cruiser in. I needed to go someplace so it turns out that the rear tire on the FJ works really well as a bumper. Put the Tundra in neutral and pushed it out of the way.

Luckily I have a spare ECU so will try the unbricking process now. I had everything setup right too. These 2020/2021s are finnicky.

I had a huge battery tender on it, new battery, laptop next to wifi, laptop plugged in. What I am guessing is that there is this notice after you tune with hp tuners that says you need to disconnect the battery before doing another tune. I had tuned it once yesterday and once this morning and drove about 50 miles between each but did not disconnect the battery so maybe that’s it.

    Brain surgery nearly completed:

    Ah thats wack, sorry.
I flashed 3 times in one day with 10 min drives in between when I was DEEP into the transmission saga. Should be ok to not disconnect battery even though HPT does advise it.
Maybe a blip in the comms that forced a disconnect. USB is kinda ass.

I asked @snivilous if we need to disconnect the battery and he said he never did. I haven't in forever. Anytime it takes a while to process the tune before writting wait until it can process it in a few seconds. I find it'll fail to write or augment null.

Now that we know how to unbrick 2019s and lower using the paper clip method it’s not too terrible. The 2020-2021s just suck since the only way is replacing the ecu.
