I thought that in one of his videos he mentions an increase in stall speed of around 1000 rpm, but retaining the lockup clutch with an upgraded set to get best of both worlds and no issues locking up 800hp. I don’t recall which video that was, the info is just floating around in the mothballs somewhere. Might be wrong..

   "Top Contributor"

I remembered that being mentioned as well, but couldn't find the source...they really need to include more detail in their site, would probably get more orders if people had more information.

I even asked about using that TC for my IPT build and was told not to do it haha. If I remember right the main thing was if keeping the truck for street use keep the stall as is. I think the further explanation was the supercharger makes decent power at low rpm so no point in raising vs like a high strung turbo application.

Years ago I had an old bronco with a 400m (no poking fun at the boat anchor..) and C6 transmission. I rebuilt both of them; flat top pistons, RV cam, Edelbrock intake and 4 BBL on the motor, TCI kit and shift kit on the transmission. I drank the torque converter performance Koolaid and ordered something like a TCI sizzler performance street converter to go with the fresh motor build and ‘make the most of it’

    I HATED it.

It was streetable, but barely. Power was on or off. It was a lot of fun about 2% of the time, but miserable the other 98%. If I had any brains in my head I would have done some dead reckoning and thought ‘I have a motor that makes peak torque around 1700 rpm and peak power at 3600 rpm that basically redlines around 4000rpm, and I want a converter stall half way through the RPM range?!?’

I swapped it out for a low stall converter and was much happier. No issue getting in to the power band. If I were competing in the Anchors Away! racing bracket for comically slow large displacement motors, that higher stall converter would rock! But it failed miserably everywhere else.

I kinda wonder the same thing about a higher stall converter for the tundra. Better lockup clutch I’d take, though.

You can change the stall speed...heavy duty damper springs and some other gadgets. I believe for daily driving you don't want above 3300rpm stall and too heavy springs will be harsh when engage/disengaging the TCC.

High stall blows on the street been there done that no thx lol. As far as heavy duty goes I’d again say we havnt seen converter issues so why change it

Finally broke 100 miles on front back gears and speedmaster lsd. Have yet to WOT but damn what a difference at part throttle and tow/haul!

Glad y'all are enjoying the upgrade! I'm still surprised by how many in this thread hadn't already done it. RAS does help with wheel hop but given lots of you are already towing and are set up to do so, traction bars are probably better. :)

I made a set like the BDS kit and they really plant the rear end.

Dang man, no rem here just straight gears from the dirty box.....but also playing it safe and getting some miles in the helical gears in the lsd.

I did. Although I will be sending my rear set to Ayers in AZ for REM polish to get rid of the old pattern. They have a 24-48hr turn around.
    I got a whine at 57-60mph...

I've gotten lucky so far, no decel whine. Although I have not driven highway speeds yet.

My fronts are good! My rear set started after the break in was done. Ken "Zuk" thinks it could be a high spot or some metallurgical phenomenon...oh well at least it doesn't take long to send out and set up.

    Transmission Update- Round 3?

I reverted the TCC tables back to stock per Level10's direction.
    I previously had:
    - 4th lock up @ 1674 and release @ 1374 (stock first column from 5th, but fixed across TPS)
    - 5th lock up @ 1674 and release @ 1374 (stock first column, but fixed across TPS)
    - 6th lock up @ 1800 and release @ 1701 (stock first column, but fixed across TPS)
^^ I did this for all tables; normal, normal hot, cruise, tow/haul, tow/haul hot

I'm on stock 4.3 gearing with 315/70r17's and found that the shifting with those locks ups was a little strange at times, but rolled with it because a lot of you guys have static lock ups like that. Just to give it a chance, I left it. With those tables, I ended up with P2757 quite a lot. I could make it throw the code if I hammered it in 5th or 6th (or even light ish throttle, say 25% TPS...in boost/in PE). I could feel when it would try to lock up but can't under hard acceleration. Logged and could see that under normal driving, the TCC solenoid was commanding on/off and lockup was occurring at each time... so I knew everything was working as it should from that standpoint.

I've put 250 miles on the truck since Friday morning when I reflashed the Stock TCC Tables and am happy to report that I can't for the life of me make it throw P2757. I cancelled the transport to Level10 today and will advise him if it comes back and we can ship the truck back to have them diagnose and fix. For now, I'm going to say it's resolved and I'm happy. Drives exactly as it should.
