That's definitely not what I did when I changed the oil. I turned that bitch upside down (maybe unbolted the back cover to inspect too), then flipped it over and filled it to the hole. The hole could be placed just about anywhere, so it being strategically low indicated to me it was a fill to the hole scenario. SCOL set me a little oil container which I only used about half of, and it didn't seem like anything special whatsoever, definitely don't remember it smelling bad.

Hopefully I didn't fuck up, but I'd be shocked if there was some special amount it needed and the fill oil just happened to not be in the right spot. There's just two gears in the backside and you can see from the fill hole position that both gears would end up covered in oil filling to it.

Oh well, I guess we'll see if the blower ever has issues.

 

Heck I don’t know, here’s some posts I saved about it. I’m just a master of regurgitating information I read online, not a master with the wrenches. Steven “Gadget” owns URD IIRC and Brian Zacuto is from SCOL. Both of them should know these units pretty well I think.

Is it safe to assume JB's kit is ok to use as instructed (it says it is the exact best oil & amount) I have 2 SCOL bottles coming some day, ordered the same time, it's still processing.

Called SCOL to see what was going on with the order, it is ready to ship but unshipped, I asked to cancel & they are charging 5%.

They ware closed until today but there is no notification on the site, I called last week trying to order & it just rang, she said there was a message on the phone. NOPE.

IMHO Kinda creepy

 

I think I shared this one a long time ago on here, but it answers a lot of questions which I assume are somewhat universal across most Eaton superchargers.

e30, drain your supercharger again and fill it to the hole and tell us how much volume that is

 

It's drained as much as an hour sitting on its back dripped out of the hole. I'm waiting for the JB kit to come. I'll report what putting the 8 OZ in does

 

also tell us if it smells lol. The Taco s/c oil definitely did, and is notorious for smelling bad over on tacoworld thread.

 

Procharger oil used to smell like absolute cat piss. Never had a positive displacement blower smell as bad as that. Whipple also sent pre measured amount to use. I would fill recommended. That oil doesn’t go anywhere else

 

Doesn't smell good but it's not awful (oil that came out)

I emailed JB & asked how much to put in.

Maybe I'll send it to Blackstone.

When I used the ptr29-34087 service kit from Jon Bond it was Eaton oil. I was able to drain it and it took all 8 oz/205ml. Even included the Toyota service bulletin that I posted a few pages from.

 

I know and appreciate all of your input. The JB kit came, I loaded the Amazon bigger syringe with the entire bottle and used all of the oil.

Well I guess I've been running 8 oz for 9 years.
As per Toyotas service bulletin...is there a different design?

I got a cart so I'm not going back & forth to wherever I left my tools (assuming I stick to putting them back on the cart)

If it were mine I’d 100% follow SCOLs recommendation of 7 oz above all others. That said, probably won’t make a noticeable difference, but 1 ounce is over 14% more.

 

So much confusion.
Scol 7oz
Jon Bond 5.1 oz
Toyota 205 ml =7.2 oz
So I guess the bottle I got is correct and my math conversion sucks as 205ml is not 8oz! Carry on!

8oz, it was the JB kit you linked.

The Google says it is 236.588ML

 

I think 205mL and 7oz. Are used interchangeably for the simplicity of us likely not having a measuring device in mL and it’s pretty damn close. Let’s be real, it won’t blow apart over an ounce, or fraction of one lol.

 

Guess it must be easier to have 8oz bottles. I went by the kit instructions of putting entire bottle in...

 

I'll take out 1 oz if it blows up, I'll get a Uber pass & stop messing with cars.

It would be shitty of them to give you 8oz. If that’s exactly what it needs and not even a little extra. They really think we won’t spill a single drop? All the kits are 8oz cause I don't think any Eaton supercharger uses more than 7.4oz. so 8 covers all of them and they can stock and sell one kit.

Oz's and mL's are different units.

One is weight the other is volume.

Nice of them to confuse the amount even more.
