Lol agreed, not sure why but I just like how those aussies do things I guess. I’ll be ready to order in about a month. Better get a shipping quote and double check for duties/taxes for the VB to make sure it’s feasible financially.

IPT mentioned that they were using Raybestos frictions in one of their AB60F assembly videos.

Yes, back in 2013 or earlier when Raybestos came out with the heavy duty clutches for the ab60. Also when IPT machined the steels to get an extra one in there.

Update, transmission is currently being swapped out, hope to be up and running before the weekend. First thing pinning that bitch then reaching out to IPT on a eta/turn around on value body and last but not least getting these gears and and rear lsd in. Maybe trans will last longer this round lol. Will be keeping a keen eye on convertor temps

With the 5.29 gears I can tell it's running a lot smoother in shifting and doesnt seem labored. I do have my shifting rpm schedule lowered in 1-2, 2-3 with 3-4-5 handling the power. Getting the trans out of 1st and 2nd quickly and Flex lock disabled to not generate excess heat.

A mini-ductor heat induction tool may help with any sticking bolts. I hit each of my bolt heads with it and let them cool before opening, but my Tundra has been a PNW baby almost it's entire life, so very little rust.

I only have 140 miles on the rear gears...one reason to get them rem'd. I just got some parts for the front diff. Waiting for the wind storm to pass, losing power sucks even with a generator. Hopefully sometime before Christmas. I haven't been able to really test the speedmaster except for the tech at discount tire spinning both tires on the concrete shop floor when he was backing out. Told them to be easy on the throttle. Haha
A couple of corners seemed a bit more sure footed but that's the most of it. I think it'll be/do just fine.

I definitely don't have the patience for 500 miles of babying it.

I found it was easy to get the first few heat cycles done and then just made pointless trips down the highway for the next few evenings after work.judr remember to vary speeds. Restrictions were off within 3 days by doing it that way and it kept me from wanting to smash the skinny pedal at every stop.

Just remember that after the 500 miles of unloaded break in, there is a 2 heat cycle towing break in process and a drain/fill, too.

Congrats to you guys who are doing it. Still one of the more functional mods I've done and the posi is almost a requirement with them. You guys won't be upset, especially at the pricing you all found.

Is this statement true even if you have them polished? My understanding is that the REM process negates the need for a 'break in' regardless of unloaded/loaded driving. TIA

I didn't have the desire to source the REM polishing when I had my install done, but I agree with you. From what I recall, the polishing removes the need for all break in procedures. For something like high loads of towing, I'd still do it, but I'm a nerd and paid full price for my kits and install. An ounce of prevention was worth it to me, and I had a CAT scale almost exactly 20 minutes away, so it made sense. YMMV

I would also plan on an early drain and fill. Couldn't hurt and can see what the fluid looks like.

Here's what ZUK from gearinstalls told me about REM:

"...be aware that pretty much all aftermarket gears are incomplete. They are rough gears. I want to do a great install and I am looking at rough gears to install. They require a 500 mile break-in....and that brings up an interesting question. Why is 500 the magic number? Maybe the gears will not be fully broke-in til about 5000 miles? Who knows. Back to the 500 miles......when the oil is drained at the 500 mile marker, it is usually a kind of soupy metallic look to it...that means that the bearings also have been exposed to that metal debris and now the surfaces of the races have been "dulled" (micro-pitted).
I just feel alot better about the delivered 3rd member knowing that you don't have to drive it carefully making sure as to not overheat the pinion teeth and do 3 cooldown sessions. I like it when you can just get in and drive at full speed from the get go. And enjoy cool temperatures right from the start."

Latest update to the blown motor, he admits it is his file, says it is corrupt & the fueling is a mess, but says he never said it was done, his last email was asking how the car ran & saying it looked good. (I said it ran fine) That was 5/6. The motor blew 11/24. I said you had over 6 months to say something if we weren't done.

Admitting fault on the tune but somehow placing blame on you for not coming to him?
Do you get the feeling he's not going to pay even though he admits the root cause was him/his tune?

I never for a second expected him to pay voluntarily, I figured he would say pound sand, gtfo. But now I have in an email he admits it is his & it's corrupt? The fuel is a mess? He is fucked.

I have all I need for a small claims case. If he forces that he will lose more in one lost sale from my posts on just about every BMW forum, I paid him 7k+ for stage 1, his stage 2 is 9k+ he most likely will cave to that treat (and small claims in PHOENIX!, he is in Florida)

    lol

I'm asking for 14-1800 depending on how bad the head is, if we go to court, I'll be asking for the full 5k max small claims limit, I'll make that clear if he pushes me.I'm sure he has insurance but it's so little it makes sense not to make a claim.

The "shop" is a guy kind of like Sniv, he is an enthusiast, that is super stand up & is helping me but he is not waiting to get paid (less than he deserves) to help for a maybe, I have to pay. My last message to the manufacturer, I said just work with the builder, ask him what his actual costs are & pay him. That was over an hour ago, no response. I am sure he is talking to his lawyer & deciding if he wants to pay a little now to make it go away or not.
