Seems like the Innovative PSB-1 is the go to here? Good call on the mounting option. I kinda like the idea of putting it in the far left vent so it'll be a little more incognito than on the steering column.
I'll need to double check, but this looks like it would work for the mount: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1588004202/toyota-tacoma-n300-3rd-gen-tundra-vent

I'm not planning on tuning it myself. I cant remember who, but i remember hearing someone on here does some pretty nice remote tuning :D:cool:.

I've got the whole Angel/Devil thing going. Bigger pump would leave me room to upgrade down the line IF i wanted to.... OR using the 340 means i'd have to drop the tank again and it sounds like a bitch to do, so i'd probably leave it stock.

The whipple kit uses HP Tuners, so i'm assuming that the MPVI3 comes with, but whipple's website just says "Flash tool that allows you to read and erase codes and multiple data log features (complete only)" I'm guessing thats it unless they have something else.

Mpvi is different than what’s included. I run the AEM gauge no issues. Here’s the pillar mount for reference in his truck. I run the steering setup

Long ago...like 400 pages ago, there was mention of potentially loaning out a tvs snout pulley puller...is this still a thing or should I buy it to use once? SO MANY DEALS so little dollars! Haha

I have been running the PSB-1 for about a year. It's been good to me.

The Whipple Kit comes with an HP Tuners RTD device, not the MPVI3. The RTD is remote tuning device for you to be able to upload a tune. It doesn't come with the full suite of tools that the MPVI3 does. Overland Tailor Tuners can utilize the RTD device for a custom tune but there may be some other drawbacks. You can opt out of getting a tune/device with the Whipple kit and save $200. I chose this route and custom tune from day one.

I actually emailed Whipple to ask if the $200 was for the device only and to ensure that a stock tune was included even without the device. They initially stated in the affirmative, but later recanted when I requested a canned tune for my truck. So I have no idea how the canned tune from Whipple behaves. Regardless, I have been more very happy with custom tunes instead.

Well shit, i guess i'll look out for the MPVI3 then. Just looked, shit that thing is expensive.

I've got to deal with emissions inspections here in California, Its now just a OBD2 plug in they use, and dont even put it on the rollers anymore. Not sure if i put a tune on it, even if it burns cleaner than the factory whipple tune, if i'll get failed.

So you had to buy the MPVI3 and credits or the MPVI3?

The MPVI and 2 credits. Credits are $50 each. I actually got a discount on Summitt awhile back. Look around for Black Friday sales. I bought mine with 2 credits already.

As blenton noted, the RTD can flash your truck but only from specific companies. OTT and Yotawerx can tune with it. But if you want me, or some other smaller name place to tune your truck you can't use the RTD. Likewise if you want to be able to do something as simple as view the tune youre putting in your truck or adjust parameters, you flat out can't with the RTD. There's a steep buy in for those options, and you'll be perfectly happy with a tune from the other guys mentioned too. Pros and cons to both.

I had 2 450s bought from Walbro because counterfeits fail & no support from Walbro. Currently I have 5-0 650s running at 60 lbs on the 340 with a 2.299213 pulley and RCF TB, my Tree runs amazingly thanks to the sniv magic tune!

This was before the TB, SPD highflow cats, and the sniv tune.

A dealer just quoted me to reseal cam towers and replace cam chain tensioner - $11,000.00!!!

So maybe XAT isn't that dangerous after all..?

It sounds to me like they've spent too much time next to the tail pipe with the engine running and the garage doors closed.

Ya, it sure sounded like an f u price to me. Same dealership told me to just ignore it last time I asked about it. I get a little bit of rattle when the engine goes from cold to warm, but not when cold or warm. I WAS thinking that I'd baby the truck and just have it done for peace of mind but at that price, I think I can get a built motor for not much more.

Oh yea built motor would be the way. My cam towers have been leaking for 120k. Never gonna fix them. No smell. Just little extra rust prevention coating.

Mine have weeped for a long while, but no appreciable oil loss. I just figure cam tower reseal and chain tensioners were 90% the same labor so I'd do them both at the same time. Nope. Not any more. I'm fairly confident in my ability to do the cam chain tensioner, but don't want to deal with retiming the entire motor so I was avoiding the cam tower reseal. It's just difficult to pull my truck off the road that long.

Sniv said he can fab up a super small pulley for those wanting to go the built block route. Prob blow something else up but you’ll be rippin before that.

The built engine sounds awesome and I’d do the same thing if mine ever blew. The sad part for us is there is basically zero trans option that will hold the power aside from something like a built 4L80 run by motec like PS does. The “built” Toyota trans options for 700-1000 whatever horsepower don’t actually hold that from everything I’ve seen. I wish they did, as I have zero interest in motec.

I though that 4L80 had issues or blew up as well..? Cobwebs, but maybe I'm confusing it with a different fully built truck in the 1000HP range that was for sale in the last year.

Rey will be the guinea pig for us to see how much power a built transmission can hold. At an estimated 26 HP per psi, 20 psi (plus 14.7 atmospheric) should put him in the 900 crank HP range. :eek2:

lol we’ll see already have a back up trans and have been talking to the UAE tundra folks easy swap in for the 4L80 manual valve body they said can be done with or with out motec. Goals to make good power then dial it back for dirt reliability.

Well you will definitely be better off than not having the built Toyota trans, especially getting over 700 crank hp. It seems nearly every single tundra PS builds that makes over 700whp they end up having to go the built 4L80 route because the Toyota trans blows nearly immediately. That’s why they developed that solution. Guaranteed that’s why @Winks4x4Toy sold his built AB60 transmission before ever installing it. A built 4L80 will actually hold 1100-1200 whp easily. For the AB60, it would seem modifications beyond the valve body mod are mostly smoke and mirrors from the trans builders. They give little to no detail on what they upgrade and I’ve seen people go with a “heavier duty” option torque converter that didn’t last as long as the OEM one. For me, I wanna do the VB before the thing blows and hope that holds it together because everything beyond that seems to be a crap shoot. If we were smart, everyone supercharging would have the VB installed from day one.

Who knows what damage I already have done to clutches, unfortunately. Now, in some of your guys cases you’ll get the new “built” trans with the performance VB and likely never have an issue again until you’re making crazy power if you go the built engine route, since you’re starting with fresh clutches and the modded VB.

I got another belt, this one is 9/16" shorter than the previous belt (K081196HD).

K081189HD is perfect for Harrop 77.5mm pulley on spacers, tight but not difficult to get on.
